Possible Trade
Hey guys!
So, as some of you know I have a 1.1 pair of rough scale sand boas. I originally got them because they were mean as sin and couldn't find a home (aka, sat in the shop forever).
Well, the female has calmed down beautifully, but the male is just as mean as when I got them. Also, I have no interest in breeding them and even if I did, they are siblings.
So I decided to try and sell the male but keep getting offers on trades. (Alot of normal BPs).
Well, this kid I actually got my lesser female from is interested and offering a female albino cape gopher snake. Pretty sure it's a done deal to happen this weekend, but I figured I'd reach out here for some feed back. Here's a pic of the gopher snake.

Re: Possible Trade
Well you know what I'm going to say. Hellz yeah! If the Pit is healthy that's a great trade IMO. Pits are the perfect colubrid to me. I LOVE my bulls. That albino looks pretty nice from the picture. Do you know how old she is?

Re: Possible Trade
I don't know age. But the person said she's 3ish feet long. Looks kinda skinny to me tbh but that might just be me.
I was kind of wanting a bull vs a gopher. What are the differences though?
Also, how large would a cape gopher get when full grown?

Re: Possible Trade
She does look a little thin Mink but you can change that pretty quickly. They are monsters at feeding time and hardly ever mis a meal. My understanding is that bulls get a little larger than other pits but gophers will grow to 5-6 ft on average. They're a bit thicker than your average colubrid too.

Re: Possible Trade
I really wanted to get a hypo and not an albino because red eyes freak me out and I already have 2 albinos XD
How active are they? She may have to be in a smaller tub for a while until I get my reptile room more well 'stocked' with better enclosures.

Re: Possible Trade
My bulls are very active especially when they're hungry. They don't hide much either. They're almost always hanging out in the open inside their enclosures. They mostly use their hides when they're getting ready to shed. The husbandry is super easy too.

Re: Possible Trade
I'd definitely jump all over that trade if it were me. That's a great looking gopher.

Re: Possible Trade
Good trade IMO, the albino may be a bit slower-growing than a normal, not necessarily a bad thing though. My little bull snake is quite active, even a day or two after eating. Great disposition for handling.

Re: Possible Trade
Average gopher is 4 to 5 feet. A 6 footer is not that common. I would personally wait for a bull since that's what you really want. That one there is thin...maybe easy to fix though. I feel that a pair of rough scales is worth more than a single albino SD gopher...at least they are up here, perhaps it is different there? Would be a pretty cool addition, though.
Edit: just realized it may be for just the male? If so, perhaps a bit more worth it!

Re: Possible Trade
Haha. Yes Andy. Just the male. I don't know that I want a 6 foot colubrid. Other than size is there a difference between bulls and gophers?
I may make the trade just necause I have been trying SO hard to sell/trade this evil little worm and no luck. Even the store that always trades with me won't take him!
If anything she could be worth a better trade in the future? Am I a bad person to be thinking like that? ._.

Re: Possible Trade
No other real difference besides size, Mink. I've heard that bulls are more consistent feeders, but that's about it.

Re: Possible Trade
If the person wants him then go for it. I find it funny the store that sold you the pair won't take him back. Be a cool snake to own, different from the rest of the collection.

Re: Possible Trade
Yeah. So long as the guy meets me this weekend I'm going to do the trade. Since I have NO reason to keep him and no interest in breeding, no reason to keep him.
And yeah, I was a bit miffed they wouldn't take him back. But at the same time, I can't blame him.

Re: Possible Trade
Hell yea, Pits are awesome. The cape gophers stay around the same size but want to keep them a bit cooler. I've read some keepers just do ambient 75 and no hot spot. For my Cape I provide a hot spot of 82 degrees and I usually see him using it after scarfing down a rat.
I'd make the trade in a heart beat, and if after a couple months you don't warm up to her just PM me as I'd be interested in finding a girlfriend for my Cape
