Re: Maynard- BRB Progression Thread

Lovely snake. Do like a nice BRB and Cliff produces some stunning snakes - congratulations.

Keep the photos coming, I'd love to see how he progresses...

Re: Maynard- BRB Progression Thread

Well after hearing what Cliff had to say I decided to wait a week to feed Maynard. Just walked up to my cage to find him out of his humid hide for the first time and also found a BEAUTIFUL intact shed. He also struck at his pinkie rat immediately! Gonna gove him some darkness time so he can swallow before I offer the second. Very pleased!! My god he is gorgeous with a fresh skin! In a few days ill attempt to take him out so I can get some better pictures!

And the second rat is gone! Gonna stop at two and not ruin a good thing!

Good plan, LOL! Glad to hear he shed -- I bet that was why he was irritable.

Re: Maynard- BRB Progression Thread

So tonight was my first session handling Maynard and he is an absolute puppy dog! So inquisitive and gentle! Picked him up right out of his hide and he did not resist at all. He actually seemed really interested!

Re: Maynard- BRB Progression Thread

Great snaps! Sunlight or flash bring out extra color, FYI.

They are very curious critters, actually, and love to explore. They can be nippy though if you set them "free" to do so and then try and "recapture" them...even LGR babies (it seems to be a species thing).

Re: Maynard- BRB Progression Thread

He's quite the handsome fellow! They do tend to mellow out once they're older.

As for the recapturing comment Cliff made, that seems to be my Picasso's motto in life! I can set my hypo and normal down and grab them up and they're a-ok (as long as I do it slowly and not from above, like with any snake). My Picasso won't have any of it, that's how I ended up actually getting teeth in me, trying to place him back in his tub after putting him in a holding container. lol So far he rears up at me when I go to take him out but no more strikes/bites (yet).

This one seems like he'll be a right mellow guy, though.
