Hypo boa?

I was just wondering if this guy would be considered a hypo. He has high pinks on his side and was sold to me as a hypo het albino but he really doesn't seem like a hypo to me

Re: Hypo boa?

Maybe a het hypo...or a salmon...

I agree with you though. Doesn't appearto be a hypo to me either.

There is no het hypo. Hypo is het hypo. A homozygous hypo would be a super hypo.

That said, your boa looks like a low quality hypo to me, dross.

Could you get some photos further away from it, maybe with sunlight instead of flash? These photos can be rather misleading, and they're difficult to ID with.

Re: Hypo boa?

Definitely a hypo. The lack of black in the tail really gives it away.

Re: Hypo boa?

Ah, didn't know that lol. Still so much to learn.

Though to me I still see black in the tail. Is that indicative of it's quality? A better quality hypo has no black but a lower quality one has some still?

Re: Hypo boa?

yeah ill try to get better pics of him. his sisters honestly looked phenomenal. but hes was the runt by a lot. so i took a liking to him and he took his first meal the second day i had him like a champ (the breeder couldn't get him to eat). so hopefully i can get this guy on the right track and maybe he'll color up some more

Re: Hypo boa?

Definitely a hypo. Also, salmon and hypo are interchangable terms and often used in place of each other, but there are "technically" two major lineages of hypos; salmon and orangetail. The two lines are in essense the same gene, though.

Re: Hypo boa?

Beautiful!! I love the darker hypos, i think its a matter of preference. No doubt in my mind this is a hypo, just not a 'clean' one. I love Nicaraguan hypos because they are very 'dirty' hypos, lots of black specs and high reds orange and pinks, making them dramatic looking adults. Paticularly like his head freckles Salmon is a line breeding of hypo, you shouldn't call it salmon unless you know it's from that line. (There are a few lines, focusing on different looks but essentially the same gene)

Re: Hypo boa?

Yes that is a hypo boa. Like Andy G said the salmon and orangetail are just bloodline names for that breeder’s hypo boas. Here are some baby hypos to show you the color changes they have. Also all hypos darken up some as they get older.

Take care
Tom

Re: Hypo boa?

Those last two are friggin gorgeous Tom!

We've got a male hypo RTB at the shelter around 4.5' and I've got to say he's easily the most beautiful of all the other boas there. Great looking baby so far

Just keep in mind you won't get any albinos/sunglows pairing your hypo to an albino, unless he's het albino. You'll get a bunch of hypos 66% poss het albino if he isn't het.

Hi dross9615

If you are interested in a 2015 baby sunglow female I have 5 of them still for sale. I can give you a good price on one if you want pick it up here at my home. I am only about 5 1/2 hours from your town. I don’t want to ship any more this years as it’s getting a little to cold to ship now for me. All babies are healthy and eating FT rat pups. I have them priced at $375 shipped but like I said if you want to pick one up at my home I will sell them for $200 each.

I also have two hypos for sale to.

Male hypo jungle het albino. He is also a possible super hypo.

Female hypo het albino possible jungle.

Take care
Tom
