Re: Atticus is growing :)

Wow, what a gorgeous looking snake. I debated on one of these for my first snake. What size do they usually top out at? I don't think I could go with a full size boa, but I've heard the BRB's stay a bit smaller?

Yes they're smaller than Redtails, but if you want to stay at 4-5 feet get a male :P

Re: Atticus is growing :)

Agreed on both points. Generally, females top out at around six feet, males at five feet. They are also thinner than regular boas -- their alternate nick, in fact, is the "slender boa."

The babies are like little pencils -- bitey pencils at first. ;-) (Our first litter has calmed down, but the second one is still a bit spirited. They think the spray bottle is some type of demon to be attacked.)

Thanks! He has been a fantastic first snake for me, came from the breeder already very calm and handleable and eating f/t. I knew I loved the boa temperament but like you wasn't sure about the size til I found these little beauties

Re: Atticus is growing :)

Thanks guys for the quick replies. I think I'll wait a couple years until I have a bit more experience keeping snakes and a bigger place to build some nice enclosures. The boas temperament looks great

Yeah, finally! Still impatiently waiting for the day I can call him full grown and get his "big-boy" enclosure!

Re: Atticus is growing :)

Atticus broke the 300 gram mark last week! He's getting ready to shed too but I snapped a quick pic

Re: Atticus is growing :)

Atticus turned 2 years old a few days ago then last night he shed and he is looking fantastic today!

In other news I am working on creating a small arrow frog terrarium that will be my first attempt at a bio-active planted vivarium!

Re: Atticus is growing :)

I haven't gotten an accurate length measurement in a while but he must be a bit over 3 ft now. And yesterday he weighed in at 340 grams on an empty stomach, and then he got a nice big dinner
