Stink on

Gotta love snakes. So the cage smelled a little past cleaning time. So I took ruby out (wife named the retic) yesterday, handled a bit and put in a separate container and do a good moving cleaning the cage. Wake up this morning not only do I have a beautiful shed but a pile of **** to boot. Good thing she's still little and I'm using paper towels. lol

Re: Stink on

Jenny isn't to bad at the moment because she's no girth. But when Daisy decides to have a bowel movement it's not a very pretty sight, or smell for that matter

Re: Stink on

I'd be careful feeding your retic outside of the enclosure as an adult, it's highly dangerous to you and anyone else in the house. Already saw a woman hospitalized and a child killed within the past year from giant-related feeding bites due to feeding outside of the enclosure. No way to keep them away from the snake if it's not in it's enclosure where it can be locked up.

Re: Stink on

Maybe I missed it but I didn't get that he's feeding in a separate enclosure...but that the snake was put into a separate tub to clean the enclosure....but regardless I do agree that it's never a good idea to feed a giant outside of the enclosure, or any snake for that matter.

Re: Stink on

just moved her to a container when I cleaned her cage. I have never fed outside of her enclosure and never will. The last think I want is a big 15 footer out of her cage and in feed mode lol

Re: Stink on

Woops saw "separate container" and must have automatically inserted "feeding" there. Been getting a plague of those lately, and I'm worn out on the topic. lol Good to hear there's no separate feeding.

I do feel you on the smell part, though. No matter how many times I scrub my retic's tub it just constantly smells like pee. I may try some stronger vinegar next time around...

Exactly this lol.

My retic is the smelliest snake I've owned. Probably worse than all of them together even.

Try using 1 part brown listerine to roughly 6 parts water give it a good shake up in a spray bottle, Spray it on your tubs and vivs make sure you wipe off all the excess, give a little time to air. And everything smells dentist fresh, we've been using it for years and it kills the germs

I'll put my three foot Chinese king rat against your retic any day in the smell department. Worse than both my tics, my falsie, or my beauty snakes. By far. It's truly terrible lol.

Re: Stink on

I kind of wish my rainbow boa made stinkier poos. I can't smell them at all, so I have to actively hunt for poops each day in case she made one. Sometimes, the only way I find them is when I see mold fuzz XD
