Question Mystery Moss

Heyy… I went to a reptile show yesterday and I got some great deals!! One deal includes some live moss. Now while buying this moss I got caught up in something else and I forgot to ask what kind of moss I am buying :/. Sooo I need your help! What kind of moss is this? They said it is dormant right now. It is to be set on Eco Earth ect. and have a UVB light

Re: Mystery Moss

I don't know, but it actually looks like a lichen.

Re: Mystery Moss

I know what it is but I don't know how it is called in english... Cladonia rangiferina. I used it in my Russian Rat's tank. It doesn't need any light at all, only spraying once in a day/two. You know it's simply unbeatable, I once was keeping it in a simple plastic bag in my wardrobe, then after 3 years I decided to use it in my viv, and here it is, after few days looking as good as new (and still alive!). And it doesn't need any soil, you can fix it to the walls/rocks/branches and it'll be okay

Re: Mystery Moss

I believe it is called Beard Lichen. It usually grows on the limbs of trees that are either dead or dying.
