Snake book presentation

in 2 weeks I have a presentation about a snake book I wrote. It has to be 7 minutes, and I don't really know how to do it. This is what I'm thinking right now:
1.i talk about main snakes and about how people are scared of them
2. i talk about how I got the idea of writing a snake book (it's a long, hopefully interesting one)
3. I talk about my snake book and show some copies etc.
4. In the end I'll show them my corn snake and tell them about him

So any other, better ideas?

Re: Snake book presentation

Since I deal with presintations alot, I highly suggest an outline.

Will you use PowerPoint? Posters? Or other visual aids?
When is this presintation due?
Who is the target audiance?

Re: Snake book presentation

Maybe I'll use a poster, I'm not sure yet. Presentation is next Saturday. It's my school project, so teachers, parents and students will be there.

Re: Snake book presentation

Try to do multiple posters like it's a power point. Have 1 poster for each subject. The 1st will be the intro. It should have a visual of what it is you're talking about (the book) and then a list of what you're talking about. It can also be questions you intend to answer through the presintation.

The other posters should have another visual (just one or two) of what that specific poster is about, and a highlight of what you say durring that part of your speach. If you time it right, you can have 5-7 posters and spend an appropriate amount of time on each one.

Having the different posters will keep your audiance engauged as they will be drawn to the new images and wording that is written on them.

If you have more specific questions, please let me know.

Hope this helped! =)

Re: Snake book presentation

When I do my shows, I never have an outline. It is what I'm passionate about and love doing, so the words just come flowing out of my mouth. With audience participation I never know were the conversation will take us. Don't sweat it, just pretend you are talking to a group of friends and it will work out fine. Also if you have to do more than one show, no two shows will ever be the same.

Re: Snake book presentation

It sounds like this is a class presintation and therefore, possibly graded. So preparation is vital.

Re: Snake book presentation

Write down the main points and then talk about each one thoroughly. What do you want your audience to know for each main point? Visuals are important too. Show pictures or bring your snake, it makes your presentation much more interesting.
Practice at home a few times to make sure your presentation flows smoothly and that the time limit is met. This will make you much more confident when it's time to present. If you're allowed to bring your snake I think you will have the most interesting presentation. Viel Glück!!!!!
