I'm needing help on knowing all the necessitis to a snakes habitat for it to be best for him. So far I have a bark type bedding that came with the tank, large water bowl he can easily lay in, and a rock he crawls under. What else can I add? Especially to help with the humidity.

Well we need to start out with what type of snake you either have or are planning on getting. Second what type of wood chips are they. Cedar and pine can be very unhealthy for the snake due to the resins in the wood. You will need a heat source, most people here suggest a UTH, but that depends on the enclosure you are using. This heat source should be on one third of the tank as to create a cool and warm side. The snake needs this to thermo regulate its body temp because it is cold blooded. Also a hide should be provided on both the warm and cool side. Of course you need food but that depends on the type of snake. That is the very basic information based on what you have told us.

He is a pastel ball python. I'm mainly needing suggestions to help keep the humidity up

A live plant always helps. Pothos is a good one as it grows in low light conditions and is practically impossible to kill.

I use cocohusk for my bedding to maintain the humidity. I started with aspen but even misting twice a day it would drop back to mid 30s. With cocohusk can easily maintain 50-60%. Keep in mind this was in winter in Canada and I don't have control of temps or humidity in the house (renter). Next winter I'll have my own place so that would probably change things.
