Exclamation Lost my Rat

So, long story short, my backyard neighbor caught a black ratsnake and was going to release it into the neighborhood. I stopped him and took it in as a new pet. Well, when I was setting up her enclosure, I decided to try new clamps from Petco. Needless to say, they didn't work. I had the snake for three days and it got out three times. Yes, I did try several attempts on weighing down the lid, but I'm pretty sure we all know how wild snakes are - all muscles and stubbornness of a bull. The first two times I was fortunate enough to find her making her way around my bed. But one day when I was away from home, my dad left a sign on my door saying he saw the snake escape and plugged the bottom of my door with a towel. I kinda wish he would have caught it that morning instead of waiting for me to come home in the afternoon, but hey, the damage was already done.

Anyways. My room is a total disaster due to a previous reptile escape (my beardie decided to run from me and headed straight into my closet) and I have already rummaged through every possible place my snake could be. Everyone I know is saying, "I bet it's in your box-spring". Somehow I feel it's some entity telling me to look there and I will find my snake. That will be my next place to look. But for now, I need your guy's advice on maybe some tricks you might have up your sleeve for find a 5 foot wild snake in your room. lol!

I'm planning on setting food traps tonight if my local pet-store's freezer is up and running again. Thanks...

Re: Lost my Rat

Step one, don't keep wild caught snakes if the species is widely available as CB.

Re: Lost my Rat

Grab a flashlight and a few relatives and/or friends and make a project out of the search! Are you sure you had the clamps on the tank correctly??? I have the same clamps and they work fine. You have to make it a point to push those clamps onto the frame of the tank and double check that they are seated correctly. You have to be responsible! Good luck.
