Re: What is on your want list?

So far I've enjoyed my boa constrictor the most, but the retic is such a cool snake I'm sure she'll grow on me quickly.

I'm set on snakes for now, but some stuff I would definitely like eventually would be:
1) Argentine boa
2) Motley BCI
3) Suriname or Peruvian
4) Snow BCI
5) Another BRB - either a high red or a hypo
6) Snow plains garter

If when my female retic is older and I think I could handle another giant, I'd love to get a snow or a tiger retic. A Boelen's python is on my list of "probably never gonna get but I like to entertain the idea." Less seriously, I'd like a blue marble ghost Borneo short-tailed python, and a carpet python.

Re: What is on your want list?

I love it theres a lot of good stuff on here. My favorite is my little hognose, always poking up through the substrate like a little submarine watching me.
Want list:
One of the large lizards, anywhere from tegu to quince to water. Not sure yet
BHP- Sooner rather than later.

Re: What is on your want list?

Rough scale pythons or oenpellis pythons. That's it.

Re: What is on your want list?

Oenpelli pythons are hardly kept here in Australia. Dr Gavin Bedford is running a breeding program in conjunction with the traditional owners, to increase numbers in the wild.

I know, but I can dream. I was really happy to see that he's had some success in his captive breeding program as I've been following it for a while now.

Re: What is on your want list?

Other than picking up some diadems ratsnakes in the next couple of months I am at a holding pattern for right now. However, here are some species I'd recommend others look into.
-flame bellied armadillo lizard. Cannot be imported anymore but have proven to be breedable in captivity. Someone should really get a few unrelated pairs and keep these going. There are still WC pairs available if you look around right now.
-Emerald Tree Skink-These are cool little lizards that from what I've read do well in captivity. Some up for sale right now in various online ads.
-Viper boas: It seems like these would be best for an advanced keeper or someone who is willing to do a bit of research on their needs. DMexotics had some really nice red ones. I think if someone could selectively breed for reds these could be very worthwhile.
-E. frenata- I've seen some bluish specimens of these rat snakes and they are breath taking. I believe Prowley Exotics may have bred them before. Selectively breeding for blue, someone could make a stunning snake with these.

Just a couple of ideas of what I'd do if I had more time, money, and space.

Re: What is on your want list?

Realistic list
1. Trans-pecos rat snake
2. Mid white pied ball python
3. Anery tessera cornsnake

Unrealistic list
1.Perentie (impossible to get and keep)
2.Citrus retic (too large for my space and time)
3.Panda pied ball python (too expensive to even consider)

Thumbs up Re: What is on your want list?

Well, it would be the albino pied ball python as number one. A distant second would be a candy ball python. The albino pied is actually one of my current projects.

Re: What is on your want list?

True, but even so I have read they are too aggressive to make good pets. Do you own one? I would love to see pictures and hear about your experience if you do. They are by far the most impressive lizard I have seen.
