Re: Boelens pythons~

your Boelens are beautiful snakes.....

it's such a shame, that it's very difficult to produce clutches in captivity,(outside of Indonesia)

from what i have read,it's to do with the altitude they live at in the wild, being nearly impossible to replicate in captivity

thank you for sharing your pictures

cheers shaun

Re: Boelens pythons~

You don't see those every day. Very Nice! Maybe the best-looking pythons on earth, in my opinion.

Gorgeous! Definitely one species I would absolutely love to have some day. Absolutely stunning animals.

That's only a part of equation. A lot of work was done by Pro-Exotics here in Denver and we're between 5000 and 6000 feet up (I'm not sure where their shop was) and I believe that Bushmaster is working with them too and he's about as high up (he's somewhere out here in the metro area too). From my discussions with a few people working with them they basically have no idea what all is involved, seasonal weather changes, UV exposure, elevation, oxygen levels, hell it could be black magic as far as they know right now.

15 years ago nobody had a clue.

Today that clue is still yet to be found.

Yup. I'm going with magic myself. Some witch doctor voodoo or something.

Re: Boelens pythons~

Pretty close to magic.

I will say though there's been more available in the past 6 years than I ever saw before. People also seem to be able to keep them alive for longer than a few months now.

I'm not sure if that's the farms have it figured out or if there are just more collectors out there. At least it seems like most people have the husbandry for them down.

Yeah. I have seen "CBB" versions but I'm skeptical.

Husbandry is a big step. I still want some Too bad they don't fit into my bylaw.

That sucks. They're definitely on the short list of animals I want. Right beside albino olives and rough scaled pythons.
