What kind of snake is this?

my step mom sent me these pictures of a snake that she found dead in the drive way, most likely death by cats... and asked me what it was. i told her my best guess was corn, rat, or king, but i am unsure specifically.

Re: What kind of snake is this?

Where was it found? I'm thinking it's an Eastern Milk, possibly a Prairie King. Looks like it has been dead a while, it's a bit dried up. I'm pretty confident it's a Lamp though. The location would help narrow it down. Bigger pictures, linked from an outside host such as Photobucket would be awesome too. It is definitely non-venomous. If the suspected cats are your step moms cats maybe you could talk her into keeping house cats in the house and sparing the local fauna...

Re: What kind of snake is this?

we are in central north carolina. and there will be no me talking my stepmom into anything. i love her but shes just one of those people you are not gonna win battles with. circle of life, its unfortunate, but thats the life of wild animals. and theres no proof that the cats did it, but im guessing thats wut happened.
