I used to keep my snakes in a glass aquaround and thought I'd go with a tub for a retic hatchling. I know it will last 2 months max but that's all I need til I get her permanent home. I plan on a 60 qt tub with several holes on each side and the back for ventilation (is that enough)? I plan on using just paper towels for substrate. Now here is my question. I have been told I can buy an ultratherm 11x11 uth and not worry about a thermostat to regulate temps. Is that true? How hot do they get? I'm so used to using thermostats.
Is my set up ok...if you have any suggestions please feel free to add
I am unfamiliar with that model but I would personally not put a UTH of any kind on a snake without a thermostat or dimmer. The air holes should be fine- it really depends on what you need to do to get your desired humidity.
Agreed^^ I use ultratherm heat mats, even though they aren't supposed to get as warm as other heat mats I believe some people have seen them hit temps over 100 degrees. Definitely use a thermostat.
