Re: Argus still growing!

Video isn't loading on my phone right now but I already know what it's going to be like. Argus feeding response had got to be one of the coolest thing in the reptile world.

Re: Argus still growing!

I thought his growth had slowed, changed his feeding pattern & off he goes again! not sure what size he'll get to!

Found even with 160f basking spot full body cover he was still very slow digestion with rats, not sure it helped feeding 3 to 4 meals on top of each other, so i'm feeding every other day now & seems to be working a lot better.

That's the problem with artificial light & a large frame work, i've had to alter the feeding patterns & quantity of prey through out the 13 months i've had him (17 months old).

I've seen a lot of varanids have trouble with large rats, have you tried cutting a slit in their stomachs to let his stomach acids through the thick skin? Helps a lot in digestion.

No., i've just gone back to smaller rats & space the feeding out, chicks/fish/insects go through easily, also all my chicks have the yoke removed, i've seen some right yuck looking yokes on & and off! .
