How to tell when a Python is gonna shed

I've searched the forum and I really cant find all the information that I am looking for.

I have some experience with Corns but not Pythons. I just adopted a 7 month old on Wednesday. Spotted Pythons have smaller eyes. My 7 month old Spotted Python looks like he may be getting ready to shed, I'm guess by looking at his color and scales, but his eyes are so small I cant see If they are in blue or not.

Can anyone help we to determine a fool proof way whether or not that my Spotty may be getting ready to shed?

Is there anything specific to look for?

I also read that If you rub vitamin E on his nose and top if his head helps him shed quicker. Thoughts on that?

Seriously? Best way to help a snake to shed is insuring it has perfect husbandry. If that is spot on the snake will shed with out issue. Not creams or oils please. These are to bandaid bad husbandry.

Most skin products offered for reptiles are just a money grab. Kind of like dog shampoo. It will read the shampoo is ph balanced for your dogs skin but in reality there should not be any left on your dog after you rinse it anyway so does it really matter or is it a sales ploy so they can charge double. Do it right and the shampoo can be anything. Same goes for most of the reptile sprays or creams you see at pet stores. Mineral oil is also bad and will not treat mites. Shed ease has a list of stuff I would never rub on a snake. Imagine if you were rubbed down with it then rolled around in some aspen or eco earth. Yuk.
Your definately right to check here first.

Check the belly scales. They will have a pink tent to them.

They will look duller than usual and then the eyes will cloud up. It takes about a week for the whole process from start to finish, but as long as you have the right amount of humidity there should be no problems for him to shed completely

Yes, duller colors, pink belly. You can also kind of see that their skin hangs a little looser while in shed.
