Hello there! Getting back into the hobby.

Hi, I'm John.

Which sites are reliable to buy carpet pythons from?
I used to be a reptile collector long time ago and I just recently started to get back into it. Which cages/enclosures do you guys recommend I use?

Re: Hello there! Getting back into the hobby.

Welcome. As for good breeders, not my area of expertise.
However I do like the animal plastics enclosures very much. They are cheap, light weight, extremely easy to put together and will do a nice job.

Visions are a bit pricier and can't be taken apart like the AP cages. Biophiles are nice as well

Welcome.
Where you live will have the most impact as to where you buy a carpet from . Number 2 would be what kind of carpet do you want? We can narrow it way down for you with just those two little bits of info.

How are sites like lllreptile, inlandreptile, prehistoricpets? I thought location didn't matter since most breeders/sites ship across country.

I am looking for mainly jungle carpets and Irian jayas. I'll probably have both in my collection.

Thanks for all the replies

Never heard of prehistoricpets, but both inlandreptile and lllreptile have had some pretty negative feedback. Places that house numerous different species and hundreds of specimens are never an ideal place to buy from. Your best bet would be to find a breeder specific to what you are looking for. There are many people who only breed one or two types of snakes and spend their whole lives focusing on them. Nick Mutton is an excellent breeder who has alot of experience with carpets and published a book. He sells his animals for pretty reasonable prices on his website and on kingsnake. Mike Curtain is another reputable breeder that I have had contact with and whom I have heard alot of positive feedback from. I bought my Irian Jaya off of Chris from GeckoDaddy and would highly recommend him if you are looking for and high percentage Irian Jaya Jag, or sibling. Andy Jones is another breeder (from Texas) that you could look up. He has a few different types of carpets and has a very good reputation and was personally very very easy to work with. Hope this helps.
Welcome to the forum! and more importantly... welcome to Carpet Pythons... best snakes on earth.
