Hello!

Apparently I need to post something here in order to be approved... So while I'm at it I might as well introduce myself. I live in Florida and am a college student. I don't own any snakes but I do have two cats. The only experience I really have with snakes is my boyfriend's ball python, Venus.

So why am I here then anyways?

I'd love to own a snake. I actually joined this forum to ask one question in particular... which I guess I can ask now, and if nobody responds I'll just ask in the general forum or something as originally planned-

So of course being a college student and wanting a snake aren't the most convenient things... so basically I was wondering how much transportation affects snakes stress-wise. If I was to get one, I'm looking towards a rosy boa (their size was a bonus as well, better to discreetly keep in a dorm room!). I'd probably take it back home in October/December/March during the longer holidays in which rooms are inspected, in addition to my initial coming and going in August and May, respectively. It'd be a 3 hour drive, almost literally a straight line the entire time, no bumpy roads. I'd make a separate plastic box container, with substrate and all, rather than lugging a glass one back and forth. But of course the added comfort is irrelevant if such frequent traveling would stress the poor snake out, which I certainly don't wanna do.

This is the main factor in whether I get a snake sometime in the next year or two, so if you could make some input I'd appreciate it!

Re: Hello!

Welcome. I'm more of a gecko person than a snake person, so I can't give you a detailed answer on all of that with any amount of certainty.

I'm curious about feeding though. Would you intend to sneak the feeders into your dorm and then keep them in a freezer or something?

Re: Hello!

Welcome to the asylum.

Personally i would wait until you are settled in one place and THEN get your snake all set up nicely Travelling/handling the snake is stressful for it and i wouldnt want any of mine having regular 3 hour trips away from proper husbandry conditions
