Bredding whites tree frogs...age? and teckniques??
Ok so I have 2 whites at the moment. Had them since march they must have been about a year old maybe more by now. Im pretty sure one is a male and one is a female. The male croaks all the time!!! female never heard croak. Although they are similar in size I beleive I have one of each. Anyway I heard that it is possible to breed at this young age. I was thinking of feeding thgem lots of pinkies and crickets over next 3 weeks and getting them nice and fat. They already have good weight each weighing about 35 grams. I have a lamp on 14 hours a day bringing temps in cage between 80-90 and at night its 68-70. So i was thinking after 3 weeksd of feeding dropping temps over course of 2 weeks to a constant mid 60's and covering there cage for complete darkness. I will mist maybe once a week and offer some crickets once in a while...leave them like that for about a month then bring them back to normal temps over 2 weeksa again and offering plenty of foods. then 2 weeks of feeding I have a 10 gallon tank with 4 inches of water heated to 83 degrees as well as drift wood and live plants...IM going to get a little submersible rain pumpm to run 6 hours a night....Ifg im right within 5 days they should lay eggs right? Does all this sound ok? Is it posible for them to read at a year old? Or should I wait until next year? Thanks for the help

Re: Bredding whites tree frogs...age? and teckniques??
ive never bred them (my female did lay eggs though) but fattening them up on pinkies isnt a good idea its best to put weight on them with the correct diet i feed mine roaches and earth worms every day as much as they will take. and also dont expect any fertile eggs with only 2 frogs its best to have a colony of them. And they will need a rain chamber to get them stimulated. And i would wait another year. They still seem to small.

What do you plan on doing with the babies?

A lot of frog people out there love these aussie whites tree frogs so if hes willing to ship or if theres frog people near him im sure they will sell.
OP keep in mind there may not be any frog collectors in your area which means you will be stuck with the babies.

You might have a hard time getting rid of them. You can buy them at mos pet stores for fairly cheap.

I'm pretty sure most pet shops won't just accept random frogs from random people.

You would be surprised. Especially because they are free. Some places might turn you down though. If you come in from a different angle as a breeder instead of a random dude and sell them at wholesale I think you would be more successful.

I know of at least one person who bred something (can't remember what) and tried to give them to a pet store, and they said no because they only take them from wholesale breeders, not just random people breeding frogs in their room. But maybe the OP will have luck. Just seems a bit unlikely.

well I think it depends on the store. If you go in as a breeder looking to wholesale you would probably be more successful.

"Wholesale" is more than the couple that this person could produce. It means in large quantities.

Wholesale is not always a lot. You can wholesale 2 animals. All it is is buying animals way below market value and reselling them.

Nope.
Wholesale
noun
1. the sale of goods in quantity, as to retailers or jobbers, for resale ( opposed to retail ).
adjective
2. of, pertaining to, or engaged in sale by wholesale.
3. extensive; broadly indiscriminate: wholesale discharge of workers.
adverb
4. in a wholesale way; on wholesale terms: I can get it for you wholesale.
5. in large quantities; on a large scale, especially without discrimination: Wild horses were slaughtered wholesale.

Ok technically it is alot but most places will buy a few animals at a wholesale price if they don't have to pay shipping. And most places that pay to have them shipped require only 10. He can produce 10 animals.

Based on what evidence?
