Have you guys seen the video from a guy holding his timber ratle snake on his neck it in you tube aswell, but I was unable to find the video to share.
I dont keep any hots, but this is not something you should do at all, always respect the animal at all times.
janusi, I know which video you mean. It's actually a venomoid Eastern diamondback rattlesnake, and in the one video it bites him in the face because he startled it. People are stupid.
1) I hope all of this makes it impossible for him to procreate
2) why does he have bite marks on or around the nipple area...?
Those aren't bite marks. It would appear that he is injecting the venom into him himself. It is a very dangerous practice, although some people will inject diluted venom in the hopes of building an immunity to the snake should they eventually ever get bitten. It's kind of along the same thought lines of allergy shots, except there is no standardized amount that's safe. The dilution that would be ok for one person, could kill another. And you will first go through allergic reactions as your immune system tries to get rid of the foreign toxins, before you might break through and build an immunity...if it doesn't kill you first or destroy your kidneys. It is a practice that is generally frowned upon by the hot community, although it does happen. This kid seems to have enjoyed showing off the results of his poorly executed self-immunization. He suffered very bad reactions to most of those injections, and I'm sure he has some permanent scarring from a lot of them. It's a horrible example to set, and it puts the rest of us responsible keepers at risk of losing our animals. I'd love to find this fool and give him a stern talking-to. >
