Building a new Ball Python cage, Suggestions please.

I'm going to be building at new enclosure for my Ball Python soon, using chicken wire as the "fencing". Any suggestions of things to add? It's going to be 8 feet tall, 7 or 8 feet long, About 4 feet wide.

I don't see anything good about what you are building. Sorry if I am being harsh but from the sounds of it you are not taking into consideration your ball pythons needs. Ball Pythons do best in tubs or sealed vivs. Wooden boxes with doors and minimum air vents. I don't see how you would keep the heat and humidity ok in a chicken coop. Never mind the fact that your ball will most likely either get out through the gaps in the chicken wire or get horrible rub cuts from it.

Glad you asked..

Ball Pythons are ground snakes anyway, so if you really want to build an impressive enclosure, build one 4 feet or more wide, 2 feet or more front to back and 2 feet tall.

That would give your snake so much room to move around, be easy to keep the humidity up, and allow you to stack another directly above it for a second snake if you wish.

I am going to change the title of this post so out resident BP fanatics will look at it.

How are you keeping your ball python now? Temp, humidity, caging?

I am really happy to see that you are willing to learn and do the right thing.
