How to urge the urge

Well I have had my boa for 4 weeks and he has eaten 4 times and tomorrow is the day for mouse #5. Problem being no poop. For those who have not bean following I have a 28 inch long tail boa. His tank is 50%+ humidity 72 degry low and 80+ hot side with a under tank heater and basking halagen lamp. I am using cyprus and a piece of slate as a feeding station. Also there is a hide and claiming space.

If the mouse is not large enough for him he will go a long time without pooping. If you are really worried, I would soak him in a bit of warm water to help get stuff moving.

Re: How to urge the urge

When I first brought one of my boas home he ate regurarly but didn't poop for like a month. But once he started pooping, he was pooping all the time haha. I was cleaning the cage every other day...

But your temps do look low so hopefully bumping them will help

Re: How to urge the urge

unless theres a noticable bulge near his vent (constipation), i would not get too hung up on,not finding poop mate

as Kat said, you don't get a lot of poop with small prey items

cheers shaun

Re: How to urge the urge

I have a juvenile boa, about 3 feet long and he gets a medium rat every week. He eats great and sheds just fine, but he only goes to the bathroom about once a month or sometimes longer... It just seems like he is absorbing so much of the food for growth that there's not much waste. Now when he does go its Large! I also have a 4 year old hognose that also gets feed once a week, but its almost like clockwork that she will go to the bathroom before her next feeding. I am guessing its because she is basically full grown, so she uses most of the food to sustain.
