Mice are not breeding...
I am trying to get my mouse breeding operation going. My problem is that they are not breeding. I bought one male and five females from two different pet stores over a month ago, and no babies yet. (think I'm gonna feed off a couple females, I think I went a little overboard on their numbers...when they do start breeding I think I'll have wayy too many babies)
Anyway, they all get along great, the females accepted the male very quickly. He has not been attacked by any of the other mice and is still in-tact (not castrated!). I feed them a seed mixture diet, I also give them treats of coconut, oats and rice. They always have disposable hides (mac 'n' cheese boxes, toilet paper tubes, etc) and pieces of paper for them to rip up. There is good ventilation, they have plenty of room and they are in a medium to low traffic area of our apartment. I clean their tub regularly.
Any advice?
PS: Here are pics of the enclosure.

Yup, you need to get an extruded rodent breeder diet like Mazuri 6F or Purina 5021.

The tub is bigger than it appears in the photo. It's bigger than the tub-size that was recommended to me on this forum. I guess I should go take a better photo.
Also, one of the mice did have babies, but she ate all except one (apparently normal).
Now nobody is getting pregnant. I think the females are too old, they were large in size when I originally bought them. The problem is, NOBODY supplies female mice anywhere here except for that one pet store, and they are all large adult mice. I called many, many pet stores to ask for female mice...I get the same answer every time "our supplier only sends us males so we can't breed our own"
