ATBs

I'm a huge fan of Amazon Tree Boas, and I'd probably have dozens of these guys, if I couldn't keep hots. The variability of their color and patterns is really amazing to me, and they have dynamite personalities to boot. Here are some recent photos of three of my Amazons. I have one more, really special, ATB in my collection that is in shed right now. I'll throw up a shot of her, once she does her thing. Enjoy.

Re: ATBs

You have beautiful Amazons. I, too, am a huge fan. I don't have DOZENS (if it were up to my husband, we would), but we have nine.

Re: ATBs

Awesome!!! Are these all adults, or will their color dramatically change? There are so many variations of these guys I still don't know which ones turn green, and which go other colors.

Re: ATBs

Amazon tree boas don't go through a color change the way green tree pythons or emerald tree boas do.

Re: ATBs

Thanks They are young adults, born in '08 (first two) and '09 (3rd). Amazons definitely go through a color change as they mature, but it's much more subtle than a chondro or emerald. The cool thing is, you really can't tell exactly how they change. They may get darker, or lighter. Background pattern may intensify, or dissappear. New patterns can pop out of nowhere. Some animals will change very little, some will go through a dramatic change. Mine looked quite a bit different as youngsters.

Hey, speaking of, perhaps you can answer me this. I have a "halloween" phase Amazon. As she's getting older, instead of her red disappearing and turning garden, it's actually intensifying and purples and blues are popping up as lacing in her black. Her black is turning gray, though, as is normal with a halloween.

Re: ATBs

I'd say that you're quite fortunate. From what I've read, it does happen every once in a while. How old is she?

Re: ATBs

Yeah, I will put it up on another thread so that it doesn't crowd this thread. Her name is Static.
