DIY green tree python enclosure

Having read many topics about green tree pythons enclosure design, I decided give it a try as Blade's cage is become too small for him.

I found a wooden box that comes with tools that my work place's order, the box seems to be a good start to me. So I add vent holes and put door on the box.



I bought a storage bin from can-tire, it fit to the box nicely, so I use it as a insert, when I clean one box, I can slide another one into the box easily.



I use bottle lid to hold the perches. these perches are from my Japanese meaple tree. The black tube that you can see in the box is where the thermostat
temp sensor coming out, I don't want any wire hanging in the enclosure.



I don't Want to use radian panel for a small size enclosure, so I use 11" flexwatt for side and bottom heat.



Slide the storage bin into the wooden box and it is done.



Blade seems to enjoy the new cage alot.

The cage didn't cost me more than $20 but because I am not a smart person, so this took me quite a while to have it finished, all wooden surface have been sealed with weldborn which I soon found out something can be done easier. The polycarbonate is a found outside a sign making company but took me quite a hard work to cut into length. Since this display style cage is my first shot and is very heavy, I am now starting a plan to build another big one, use the same concept because double layer keep heat really well.

Looks pretty cool, like the idea of being able to slide the inside out and replace too. Is it holding the humidity well?

Thanks everyone. Yes the plastic tub cost $4.99 from Can-tire. two feet of heat tape less than ten dollar. The hinge and those little hard ware was made from work place left over. All and all it hold temp and humidity quite well becasue it was just a plastic tub lay sideway. I don't know if I have another luck to find one more piece of free polycarbonate

From the day that I found the wooden box , find a right size tub and collect all little parts from my work place, it took me more then three months to finish. ofcourse I made lot of mistakes. End up this cage is too heavy for my liking but then I learn something new.
