I think she got so excited she just didnt care what end she took, this was her firs adult mouse, she lached onto it unlike the hoppers i fed last!

Hes a black milksnake, heres him deep into shed:

Shed skins get very stretched in the process of shedding. So it's not an accurate length of the snake.

Thats good to know, about how much do they stretch? i measured his first shed when i got him and it was 25", he looks a bit shorter than that, ive seen him stretch out along his whole tank and take up 3/4 of it and its 30" long *shrug*

id still say she is about 3 1/2-4 ft long....
BUT, how exactly are you suposta measure a snake? lol they dont ussualy stay stretched completely out!

A good technique is to get a piece of string... use the string to "trace" the snake on its back... then measure the string

His names Genghis, his dad was almost 7 feet.. i cant believe how big hes going to get

i had to, he was out of his hide so he had it coming!

looks like hes just over 24 inches..

Then i compared it to this.. i figured it'd be worth a try.

put a ruler near your snake, then take a picture of it relatively straight, and follow directions, he came out to "23.91" inches

so looks to be relatively accurate!

The sheds can stretch anywhere between 10-20%, but if it should get wet for example then it can stretch a lot more.

sound about right then, his shed was 25" when i first got him, and hes grown a few inches, so he was probably ~22 inches then, i noticed its definitely "springy" as well, you can stretch it out a bit if you try to, lol!

I mean.. unless you need/want an exact measurement you could always just measure the shed and subtract ~15%, or use the thing i linked

The easiest way to measure a snake is to place them against a wall. The will almost always stretch out along the wall and then you can measure them.

Because we are not overly worried about sizes of our snakes we dont measure or weigh them, we judge their lengths by handling them and guestimating.

But....I think im doing good now, shes shed, and it was a full shed. i fed her last night, this one was lame she ate the mouse at the wrong end so it took her about half hour to just eat the damn thing. and it was kinda stressfull for me lol. but i think im doing good with her now that thats all over with ( the shed) that had me worried as it was my first shed, but it came off in one peice witch means i have good husbandery and she has enough moisture in her tank ( previous ownders said she NEVER sheds in pull peices) I PRUVED THEM WRONG! ahah. but on thursday she is moving into her new PERMANINT home, its a 55 gallon tank ( shes in a 20 right now) and im just worried bout the heat matt its suposta drop off into the cool end but the pet store does not carey the size i need so i need to figure that out some how. and then i need to modify the lid of the tank just cause it had a VERY light screen and optimus likes to jump on the lid and watch bella do..nothing. we are TRYING to teach her not too, but i dont want to take any chances of her jumping up adn breaking right threw the screen. and then the stad that the tank is on isnt the best cause it needs room between the heat matt and the stand...ugh so confusing and i think this is the longest

Im not overly worried about the length and the weight but i am getting asked those questions alot and im kinda curious!

I really need to learn how to tell their moods, waht their actions mean, and just stuff like that!!! thats the next thing im working on!
