Re: At the Vets. D: Help please?

Hey everyone. Thanks for thinking of me and Fudge over the weekend. Sorry for my absensce.

It was a very long and hard weekend. As some people mentioned above, because of fudges size he was very hard to treat. There was talk of xrays and surgery but all the vets I was speaking to (and I spoke with a lot) admitedly never dealt with something so small. Many of them had to look pictures of a leaf tail gecko to understand. We managed to pull out as much gunk from his mouth and throat as we could at the clinic; and I brought him home. I gave him some warm soaks, and made sure he was well hydrated and warm through out the night. By morning he had passed a small amount of poop/substrate and was walking around, and drinking water i sprayed in. When I came home from work ( I wish I brought him - but I was started to worry about all the stress he'd been going through with visiting the vets and being restrained and such so since he looked better sat. am I thought it was best to leave him. I was gone five hours.) he did not look well. He would not drink and was hardly walking. When I looked again a bit later he had his mouth gaped open, and his body was moving around in the most uncomfortable looking way.

Needless to say he died in my hands within the next minute.

I thought he was safe on the bedding he had, since that's what he had for the two years of his life - just goes to show you how dangerous the stuff can be . . Expecially with such a small delicate reptile. R.I.P little buddy.

Re: At the Vets. D: Help please?

Thanks guys, means a lot to have so many people care -when so many people have been like "it's just a gecko".

Sorry for my silly post starting this thread - at that point I was tired of feeling like there was nothing the vets and I could do - and was sort of paniced. >.> But yah...thanks again everyone. *hugs* love you all.

From an elephant to a harvest mouse, a pet's a pet Mary. We love them and share our lives with them and when we lose them our pain is real.

I am so sorry you lost your little one It doesn't matter if it's a dog, cat, or a reptile, your Gecko meant the world to you, and that loss hits as hard as anything else would, and do not let anyone tell you different.

He was certainly not JUST a gecko. He was your pet, your friend, and you cared about him. That's all that matters!

Re: At the Vets. D: Help please?

I got myself in trouble when i was at work because of a pet. One of my staff had no kids but had three dogs who were her "children", when one passed i gave her a week off work for "Bereavement Leave" and was told my senior management that i shouldn't pay her for the time she had off - i refused to take the money off her and it got quite heated.

Rob you are awesome! I can guarantee my employers would not be as understanding... I hate them haha

All they see is dollar signs... As a matter of fact I also feel I do not get paid enough for the bs I have to deal with on an almost daily basis... Let me tell you.. People do not like parking tickets

Personally I think parking tickets are great....... as long as it's someone who deserves it that gets it. ( I have never deserved a parking ticket in my life.)
