Constipation??

My boa hasn't pooped in 4 weeks and I am starting to think maybe she is constipated. I last week I gave her 2 small rats because I didn't have a medium. I let her soak in my tub for about 20minutes and nothing came out. Her are some pictures, you tell me does she look constipated. If she is what are somethings I can do to help her. Thanks!

Re: Constipation??

I don't notice any swelling. What are your temps?

Re: Constipation??

Some snakes don't poop nearly as often as we think they should. My Bp has gone 5 weeks without pooping at all then one day he will leave me a HUGE gift. I would say as long as temps and humidity are spot on and she has access to water don't worry to much.

Re: Constipation??

Okay thanks! Yeah I make sure their temps and humidity are perfect. I will just keep an eye on her. Hopefully I will get a late Christmas gift from her soon. Hahaha!

Re: Constipation??

Personally, I skip on feeding again until my snake has had a bowel movement.
If you keep piling rats in there, you're just increasing the chance of them getting backed up.
If temps are fine, I'd just wait it out unless you notice anything else. Won't hurt your boa at all to miss a few meals.

Re: Constipation??

theres no apparent swelling in your pictures,i don't think its constipated

i have carpets that will poo weekly, then go onto monthly or longer, then back to weekly

imo theres no set pattern to my snakes poo

i would keep feeding as normal and wait on a massive poo dropping by

i've seen blood pythons not poo in 6 or 7 months with no ill effect

i see no need for you to worry pal

cheers shaun

Re: Constipation??

My BP just left me a "present" today - first for around 3 months, the "present" was about half the lenght of the snake!!!

Re: Constipation??

My RTB goes on different occasions. When I first got her she'd poop every 2 weeks, but nowadays it's 3-4 weeks.

I'm not complaining. Out of all the pets I've had (or babies I've taken care of), snake poo is the worst.
