people on kingsnake are so mean

Man I have been having bad luck over these past few weeks, i got swamped with bills, and then I got ripped off by an african company for 2200 dollars and then my floor caved in in my store and it cost me a chunk of money to repair it, and then to top this off I havent sold anything since christmas, and it finally took its toll on me , and right at the moment I am broke. I dont have enough to feed my animals this week, so i went on kingsnake boa forum and asked for some help in feeding my animals thinkin that maybe there are some well off boa people in the states that may possibly donate a few frozen rats, because in the states there are boa breeders who are millionaires, anyways, all i got was put down and criticized. they thought i was scammin people and they pretty much called me a bum, saying i should just give away all my animals. I thought it wouldnt hurt to ask, but now I totally regret asking for help on there, they are such mean hearted people down there. I know that in a few weeks I will be on top off my game again, I just got worried about my animals. I have over 600 snakes that need to be fed and i dont have enough to feed them this week, but it could change tomorrow, but i was a little worried about it so I posted a post asking for help. Never again, man there are some cruel people in this business. I just never anticipated that everything would slow right down after christmas, if i knew this i would not have sent 2200 dollars to africa, and then they go and ripp me off, sheesh, i never anticipated that my floor in my store would cave in, I just moved into this building a few months back and didnt know that the floor was rotted under neath, no wonder why the owner was so quick to get me into the building. sometimes life throws these obstacles in our way to see how we react, I just had a string of bad luck, I am sure everyone experienced this at one time or another. The people in kingsnake were putting down my husbandry and the way I keep my animals. Man I keep my animals in the best possible environment, I spend hours each day 7 days a week keeping them clean and happy. I Even give some of the aniamls daily baths. anyone who has gotton anything from me would attest to how nice my animals are. But on kingsnake they just pass judgement before they have all the facts!!! why are some people like that???

never ask kingsnake for help!!!! thanx for letting me vent.

peace, love and happy herping!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your run of bad luck, I hope that things improve soon. I met you at PCPC show in the fall, and thought you had a great selection of animals.

I don't think you should put down an entire web community though. I've seen nasty responses and wars of words on this site too. Its just the nature of the internet, there are alway people out there stirring up the s#%t. Theres a lot of great people on K ingsnake and a lot of great people here, and many people go to both.

Best of luck, and I look forward to seeing one day at another PCPC show.

you

Know I have realized forums online are much like the police in bad areas....

After so many times of things turning out bad, people who are idiots posting, people constantly asking "I just bought a snake can he eat crickets" etc...that when one true good person posts something the reaction is automatic now. Like police in Los Angeles where I used to live. They have to deal with so much BS each day from idiots that when they do pull over a half way good person they treat him like another gang banger or criminal because they have lost their patience with people on a whole. Much like the "I am always right" people on kingsnake, they have lost faith that anyone is going to do things right anymore and they answer that way too. Automatically jumping to conclusions because for so long they are used to people being fools. But yes I agree. They need to take time and evaluate each question as a new situation.

Just out of curiosity could you maybe find a larger scale or medium scale rodent breeder who would be willing to possibly work something out for rodents?

Say a trade?
Or maybe some sort of "advertising" in your store for feeders as payment?
Or maybe a promise/agreement to continue puchasing the large amount of rodents you need from the same location in the future, if they can give you a front on a week or two worth now?

My suggestions sound ridiculous...but my best.

Hey you know what, what goes around comes around! They'll get theirs. I have a hundred mice pinkies, they're yours if you need them, just PM me and we can work out how to get them there. We're both in the maritimes so it can't be that hard.
Cheers,
Trevor

those arent ridiculous marisa. that is the way people used to treat each other ... you have something someone needs, they do something for you that you need done and you give it to them. that is the way the world ought to work. my husband fixes and builds computers on the side and the pet store owners here always need work on their systems and help with problems and things. one late evening one of our snakes arrived and it was bigger, by about a foot, than we had thought it would be, a bit older than we assumed, and the tank we had it could have lived in for a few days to a week but we didnt feel right puting it in there. we called them and caught them just before they left the store and they GAVE us a two hundred dollar tank for free, knowing we didnt have that without planning for it. we have two very small children. two hundred bucks is a lot to us. and my hubby is just doing their comp work for free until it is paid off, which isnt long really, with comp work being so time consuming. we also have done stuff for them for free in the past, so we get mice and rats at a discount from them, and last week when we were in there, she GAVE me a big nice ceramic hide for my burm for free.
that is not a ridiculous suggestion, just shows that you are a good hearted person and expect the rest of teh world to be as well.
wish there was something i could do to help

Talking WOW!!!! thanx so much all!!

wow you all are so awsome on here, I truly appreciate all the kind words, and especially the offers. I searched around nova scotia and i dont know any big scale rodent breeders, i am trying to breed my own rats but most of my females i have are still too younge, in about a months time i should have a large enough colony of rats and mice to sustain myself, but right now i just dont have enough, i had a few litters a few days ago, but i didnt even finish one rack system.
I never truly appreciated the ammount of rodents a large collection of snakes could go thru.

I want to include that Grant from Port Credit Pets, has been awsome!!! He is always there to help out fello herpers!!! And in the short time I have been around he has always been there for me, Thanx Buddy!!!

Hope everything turns out ok. I know how it feels to be broke... growing up with a single parent and all. Best of luck with the rodents, I'm afraid that I don't really have anything to donate... o.o;

Damn, it's times such as this that I wish I was a little more well off, know that my intentions are sincere when I say I wish I could offer something more than a well-wishing. I hope things pick up, and on the other hand, TheGino, BoidKeeper, and Grant @ PCPC, what a noble gesture. Keep that up, and the hobby may be pure one day.
Best of luck and I hope it all picks up.
LATER.

I think I speak for us all in saying we're truly sorry for your string of bad luck and I think it's safe to say we've all been there at some time or another. A lot of people in the valley area who I talk to from time to time may be able to help me help you. If you have a poster or something you could email me, i'd be glad to post them up on the bulletin boards in many of our local pet stores and maybe bring in a little more business for you. (It'll help you out on a personal level, help the hobby on a CB level and maybe even help the state of the economy a little) This is about the extent of help I can give you as I too am in the midst of minor financial distress (nothing new to me though) but i'd be glad to lend a hand and see if we can at least get some more people through your shop doors. Best of luck and may 2003 be more plentiful than your past shades of grey. -Scott
