pre-shed and post-shed jungle

I like how drastic a shed can change a snake. You can look at them in blue and think man thats an ugly little thing. Then a few days later they can be one of the nicest snakes in your collection. Here's my 2009 jungle female that I always put pics up of

When I pick her up I get to hold a snake. I assume you are asking if she is aggressive or not. She is very docile, she likes to hiss and bow up but she is a sweetheart. I got her last year as a "very nippy" yearling and I have yet to get tagged or struck at by her.

A friend of mine used to have a jungle. Just as beautiful. She said it wan't the best first snake to have. She said he was a bit agressive and she was the only one able to handle him. Nice snake though! I know when mine shed a couple weeks ago it looked like a brand new snake.

Lucky you! She must be an awesome snake to have.

Also, are you sure she's 100% jungle? I ask because she has "particle striping" along the side which (to my understanding) is not a jungle trait. (it's a coastal & bredli trait)

Either way, gorgeous snake. I adore carpets.

At anhhensley07: For the most part, carpets can be nippy as hatchlings but most will calm down if you work with them. I've also noticed with the few I have, they seem to calm down more once they get some size to them. Its like they don't feel as vulnerable once they aren't hatchling size. I did have one ij that was a nightmare to work with but thats only mean one that I've had. A carpet was the first snake I ever had and I think if you have the space and aren't intimidated by their size, they can be a great first snake IMO.

At SkyyaMe: Thank you, I enjoy having her. I can't wait to get her up to size and throw her into some projects. As far as her lineage, I tried to get info on her and the guy I got her from got her at a little reptile show in Tennessee and had no idea of her background. I'm quoting him on this, he said "she's got a really nice carpet". I call her a jungle but since I don't know 100%, when I start breeding her I will make it a point to let people know that I don't know her lineage. I know how important it is to know lineage when breeding morelia, but with all the crosses and intergrades out there, its difficult to know exactly what your animal is unless you buy from a breeder that can trace back their family tree. As far as her striping not being a jungle trait, I honestly have no idea. There's another site I'm a member of that is exclusively about morelia and I'm sure they could give me good educated guesses about what she could be. But without knowing lineage, no one will ever know for sure unfortunately.
