Re: My motley corn snake (pics)

gungirl, the picture of the normal in an aquarium, is my normal corn, i just dont want it confused, aarans corn does look remarkably like an okatee, im happy if im wrong and will admit it but from googles pictures and from what i can tell, aarans corn does resemble an okatee morph

Re: My motley corn snake (pics)

I would call the snake in question a normal/classic. It does not appear to be an Okeetee.

As far as Okeetee being a morph, it depends on the snake. Some Okeetees are just selectively bred corns that have that Okeetee look to them (thick black borders around the saddles). In that case, I would call Okeetee a morph.

True Okeetees are an actual locale of normal corn snakes. So, depending on the origin of the snake, Okeetee could be considered a morph, or just a variation of a normal/classic.

But I still think that your snake is just a normal/classic and not an Okeetee.

Re: My motley corn snake (pics)

Well said, Reptile65!

Also, for the edification of everyone who wasn't sure if it was a motley, a VERY easy way to tell is by looking at the belly. The motley gene eliminates all belly checking; if you suspect you have a motley, just flip it over and see

Note, however, that the diffused gene does the same thing when expressed, so if it's Diffused the belly trick won't necessarily work, then you have to go by pattern appearance or breeding out.

Re: My motley corn snake (pics)

Old post, I know, but allow me to shed some light.

OKEETEES, not "okatees", are snakes with bold, black borders around their saddles. The snake in question here is, indeed, a Normal.
