Heat + UVB set up for Mali Uromastyx
What is the best way to set up heat and UVB lights for my Uro?
I bought the fixture that are together. One side is 100W infrared heat light and other is the UVB 26W 10.0 I can't reach the ideal temperature for this type of lizard, which I read of 110F day but left side of thank is just a little above 90F.
What is best set up or lights? For now, I have the 2 lamps above the big rock, but he does not go there for the heat and he doesn't feel as warm as he felt when he was at the pet shop.

I had wrong pic lol. Thank tho for reply! Hopefully someone can help.
He has the right UVB tho, just the infrared heat was suggested 150W but didn't fight right fixtures for it so I went with 100W .... Maybe a heat pad under the sand would help keep heat?

Heat pads are always good, I have no experience with the type of lizard your working with, but if they aren't jumpers you can always lower the light closer to the stone hide?

I have the mesh thing at the top to avoid accident with the cat. So far she is not interested in the lizard ... which is good, but is always safe to have mesh on.
Uro aren't jumpers ... they are one of the highest heat lovers for sure.
He is still small, hiding behind the log at the right

You could cover part of the top with a towel to help up the heat.

We use mercury vapour bulbs for our lizards, they do heat and uv in one bulb and imo get much hotter, our monitor has 115f as his hotspot and the mvb works fine.

That sounds neat! You basically have 2 in 1. I dont think seeing those at the pet shop here, would you have a link of it to show me?
Does it give as much UVB as the 'single UVB lamp'?

The uv as good as a single bulb, search for mvb on google and you will get loads of hits, we tend to use Solarglo brand bulbs, about £60 each and last a good eight months to a year.

Re: Heat + UVB set up for Mali Uromastyx
I have been told that the UV light has to be close to 10" from the lizard. Is that a general thing regardless of instructions on the box? Mines says effective up to 20" and for now we're at 12".

Re: Heat + UVB set up for Mali Uromastyx
i would have the uv atleast 10 inches away from the basking spot. i have a red uro and these lizards need a SURFACE temp of atleast 120-150. that means the basking platform (use a rock or tile or something that conducts heat) needs to be at atleast 120 degress so i would try and raise it somehow
