Profile: Jasper

I thought I’d start out my picture posting on this forum with a profile of Jasper, a female Brazilian born in August 2009.

Jasper isn’t a stunner in terms of color, but she really shines for pattern. She is one of very few Brazilians I have seen with an honest-to-God claim to the “bullseye” label: not just a few scattered circles, but tons of them all across her sides.

Here is a shot of her from up top, showing her current color:

Here is the same shot with flash on, better capturing the quality that makes these snakes “rainbows”:

Here is a closeup of her head. She has an unusually dark face, caused by a mixture of darker pigment and heavy black lines:

As for her pattern, here is a side shot:

And, to better illustrate as her side pattern’s color has faded with age, here is a baby picture showing why she deserves the title “bullseye”:

I have high hopes for her as she reaches breeding age, and am planning to cross her with a high-color male to see what results.

Happy holidays,

She's beautiful! BRBs are gorgeous snakes. Best of luck with her.

Beautiful little BRB you have there! I really like the "bullseye" markings on her side; my BRB's side markings are more crescent-like bullseyes, rather than true bullseyes.

Re: Profile: Jasper

Thanks Ch^4! Crescent side marking are the default for the species, and extremely attractive as is. Bullseyes are one of a few emerging variants available, and nice in that they add a bit more color.

Beautiful Brazilian! My buddy has a female(from Jeff Clark) that has the true bullseye marking on the side. When they are old enough we plan on breeding her to my male.

Re: Profile: Jasper

Thanks Marvel!

Jeff produces some fine animals. I wasn't aware he had a bullseye line, good to know. How solid your friend's snake's bullseye pattern?

Re: Profile: Jasper

Don't knockl the little guy, that's better than many Brazilians sold as "bullseyes"! It looks like he has a few bullseyes, and the rest is a good mix of almost-bullseyes, deep regular crescents, and a few paired full moons. Great looking little guy!!!

Re: Profile: Jasper

Those are some old pics she really starting to color up. I'll have to get over to his house and get some new pics.
