Hello. My name is Christina. I love reptiles, particularly snakes! I currently own 12 reptiles, 9 of them being snakes (look at siggy).

I love all my reptiles...I do not breed them yet although later I do plan to breed a select few.

I recently aquired a Jungle Carpet Python kind of 'by accident'. Well, we (we being my boyfriend and I) have wanted a jungle carpet python for awhile but didn't plan on getting one so soon. We went to an expo and my friend won a coupon for one of the tables. $25 off almost everything. The only think I had money for was one of thier 2 jungle female's. (They were only $65/each). Everything else there was $300 or more and mostly ball python morphs.

I decided to go ahead and get the jungle and my boyfriend went and bought a cage and supplies for it there at the expo.

I know a lot about a lot of other snakes, but not so much about jungles so thought I'd join this forum! I am currently active in about 8 forums altogether each one pertaining to a certain reptile I own or want to own.

Normally, I follow a 5 step process before obtaining a new reptile I have never owned before and it goes like this...

1) Buy a book or two of the SPECIFIC species...learn general care, size they will get, housing requirments, food requirements, ect.

2) Google/Internet...learn what a 'good price' is for the species, morphs, and more information about them

3) Forums, talk to current owners, learn what they think and what they have learned from owning them.

4) Handle them in person, look around. Get used to what you will end up with after it's full grown.

5) GET ONE!!!!

I love to be well prepared and know what I'm doing when I get something new. I got through most of the above steps for the jungle although I couldn't find a book on them...and I talked to other people in other forums even though they weren't 'jungle carpet' specific. Again...we didn't plan on getting one so soon so if I have a lot of questions please bare with me.

Ours is a female jungle carpet python. Very sweet. We do not know an exact age but guessing an '09.

Here is a pic for her size.

Ok, so since that is said. A little about me.

I am 20 years old, I work at a University as an Office Assistant. (yes, a snake woman working in an office...it has prooven difficult, haha).

I have started a local reptile club in my area as well. I just had my first meeting earlier this month (Sept. 11th). The main goal is to get people together that love and care for reptiles and learn more about them, then to help 'new' reptile owners learn what they need to learn when getting and caring for thier first reptile pet.

I got into reptiles a year or so ago and have been addicted ever since. I have tons of books, am in lots of forums, and really got into the genetics research. I do plan to breed my ball pythons and corns a little but not really interested in full out breeding yet. I just want to do some learning for now.

A full list of my current reptiles:

Male Amel Motley Corn '06 ~Fanta Cee~
Female Amel Motley 'Sunglow' Corn '07 ~Tigger~
Female Snow Corn '10 ~No Name Yet~
Male Snow Stripe Corn '06 ~Rafiki~
Unsexed Amel Corn '09 ~Sun Glory~

^^Those are my corns

Male Spider Ball Python '09 ~Chocolate Drizzle aka Cocoa~
Female Normal Ball Python (adult but year unknown) ~Kiara~

^^My bp's

Female Burmese Python 100% DH Albino/Granite ~The Cookie Monster~
Female Jungle Carpet Python '09? ~Still To Be Named~

^^Other Pythons

Male Bearded Dragon '10 ~General Lee~
Male Bearded Dragon '10 ~xXx~
Female Tremper Albino Leopard Gecko '09 ~Neeko~

^^Lizards.

So...that is me. Feel free to ask any questions and answer any I have asked

New to here, but not to Forums :)

Hi, my name is Christina. I am new to this forum but active in a lot of others.

I have 12 reptiles right now, 9 of them are snakes

1.0.0 Amel Motley Corn Snake ~Fanta Cee~
0.1.0 Amel Motley 'Sunglow' Corn Snake ~Tigger~
0.0.1 Baby Amel Corn Snake ~Sun Glory~
1.0.0 Snow Stripe Corn Snake ~Rafiki~
0.1.0 Hatchling Snow Corn Snake ~Still to be named~
1.0.0 Spider Ball Python ~Chocolate Drizzle~
0.1.0 Normal Ball Python ~Kiara
0.1.0 Normal Burmese Python 100% DH Albino/Granite ~The Cookie Monster~
0.1.0 Jungle Carpet Python ~Still to be Named~
0.1.0 Tremper Albino Leopard Gecko ~Neeko~
2.0.0 Baby Bearded Dragons ~General Lee and xXx~

I am 20 years old, female and my love for animals in general started at the age of 4 with my first cat, Scruffy. I just got into reptiles about a 2 years ago and just LOVE them. They are so much cleaner and easier to care for than dogs or cats and I don't have to worry about going to work with hair on my clothes, haha.

I still love both cats and dogs but being in an apartment, pet deposits are high and my landlord has only allowed me to have animals in tanks...thus...reptiles.

I came here because I got my first Jungle Carpet Python a week ago. My friend won a coupon in a raffle and gave it to me, the only thing I could get with the coupon was the Jungle carpet python since everything else was $300+ (coupon was a $25 off coupon for anything at the table)

I plan to open a pet store one day and I would love to breed my own snakes and reptiles for the store and build an online website for the higher kept morphs. I am big on ball pythons, but corns and other snakes are starting to grow on me, I just need to study genetics a bit more, haha.

I am also starting a local reptile club here in Central Missouri to try and bring local reptile lovers together and hopefully try to get some new people into the hobby of reptile keeping. My goal is to become more knowledgeable on the care of reptiles along with helping new people of the hobby become more knowledgeable and do it right the first time.

I have heard horror stories of people getting reptiles and not caring for them properly, and I am hoping with this club we can help the new keepers to know what they are doing, along with letting some people know that reptile's aren't 'bad' as viewed by the media and what great pets they make.

I have a five step plan I use before getting any new kind of reptile.

1) Books - Learn general care, husbandry, common health issues, cage requirements, size, ect.

2) Google/Internet - Learn more facts, find different mores, get an idea of 'good pricing', ect.

3) Forums - Talk to people on forums, get knowledge from talking to current owners and learn what to expect.

4) In Person - Handle and see a few in person at all ages (especially adult). Learn how big they get and what all you will need as they grow.

5) GET ONE!

Although...this process didn't work out the way I wanted with my Jungle Carpet...I kind of won it in a raffle. Luckily, I planned on getting one anyways and had dome some research but not what I normally do (I usually get REALLY into the research before getting something) so please bare with me and any questions I may have.

Well, that is about all for now. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me ;p

She is a normal but she is 100% het for granite AND albino...she only cost me $50 which was stunning for her attitude being so sweet...never once struck at me...she hissed the first day I got her, but of course...being in a tiny box in a cool room, you would be a bit gripey as a snake too...she wasn't aggressive hissy...she just kinda sat on my shoulder and said 'hisssss hiss hiss' in my ear, haha.

Soooo...THIS is 'THE COOKIE MONSTER!'

Still a wittle bitty babie, awww. lol. I get her out DAILY and she LOVES it...she crawls around in my shirt, all over my laptop...anywhere that my arms can follow...she is too little to just let go of right now, haha.

Granite burms are a plenty here...they had granite's and albino granites for $75 and $95 here at the most recent expo...funny enought...a regular albino burm goes for $125 and an albino granite goes for $95...how does that make sense? haha, they said it's because not many people like the albino/granite combo versus the regular albino.

I really want a GREEN burm...those are sexy!
