missing scales...

looked at my BRB today and he had shed, however he was missing 3 scales on top of his head... ill snap some pics but i've never had this problem before, they are basically just white spots where they are missing. first thing i thought of was husbandry and everything is fine, temps, humidity, etc. etc. the only thing i could think of which could cause stress is the move back to college, he also didnt eat last week which makes him 3 weeks off feed, hes still fat and active/alert etc. not too worried about that.

essentially, wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if it becomes infected etc. can i hit it with polysporin and then take it to the vet? or just get him there asap? Thanks in advance.

Re: missing scales...

Could have scrapped its head during shedding on something?
It will likely heal up with next shed, snakes have amazing healing powers, not likely to get infected unless it is deep or the enclosure is dirty.
In the case of more serious wounds one needs to go to a bare essentials setup using clean papertowels as substrate etc. & may involve cleaning the wound & polysporin etc. most snake do not require this though as long as they are kept properly (clean). Mark

Re: missing scales...

Sounds good, I gave his enclosure a spot clean yesterday, and I'm scheduled to do a deep clean this week so it should be pristine but tomorrow or the next. It more or less caught me off guard, not sure what caused it but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the help Mark!
