new coastal jad 1 freebody 0
well i got a tube set up, untied the pillow case and put it in the tub he staying in tonight as i build them both a 2'x2'x3' tall cage tomorow, was going to go 4'tall but i got plex already for 3' so 3' it is. well he gets out of the bag faster than i can grab the lid to close get his body out he looked rather calm so i go to grab him to stuff him under the lid to get it on, he gently wraps my hand as im trying to get him in and then put on a death squeeze squishing all my tendonitist effected hand atm together so i try to keep his head away from me as i untie him from around my hand i get lose and just as im finally getting him in the cage Bam he bites my other hand he didnt have squeezing and starts to coil around my arm as i pushing off his coils the more blood that is dripping off my hand into his open mouth the more frantice his effort to kill my hand become, i ran to the sink and ran cold water on his head till he let me go got him in his cage and cleaned up all the blood in my sink/kitchen floor/taps/counter... 5 1/2 foot snake takes the gold medal lol now where he bit me he poped the blood vesalls in the other tendonitis hand, im off work and looking at surgery for both hand now hes gone and done this to my poor hands i cant blame him hes scared and probly never been held before, but i wasnt trying to hold him i was going to try in a few days but now i better put my welding gloves on for round 2 :P

Man that sucks! I hope your hands get better. I had a burm leave me with temp nerve damage in my left hand for almost six months. Carpet are fast as hell. My diamond x jungle could nail me and i would never see it coming she so fast. My borneo is so slow he can't even come close, but sure tries after he sheds. I think it was this site use to have a bite thread where you could show off pics of bites. If not maybe we should start one.

Re: new coastal jad 1 freebody 0
today i woke and the bite location is fine now the swelling went down, im surprised how much blood their was because their is only a small 2" circle of teeth marks left on the back of my hand, and kinda shocked how hard they can bit, i got tagged a couple time during feeding by my retic but she let go right away, this guy was biting harder and harder and when his head moved side to side as he was fighting me to get his body coiled around my hand was terring the skin more and more :P, all in all the bite wasnt that bad if it was not for the fast im off work and going to see a surgeon next monday for severe tendonitis to both hand from work that was the killer part of the whole deal. Ya he got me super fast with no warning, they fight dirty eh LOL

Re: new coastal jad 1 freebody 0
sounds like a feeding response mate
when they hit you defensively they usually hit let go and go straight into an S ready for strike 2.
they leave big bruises when they reach adult hood.
would'nt change them for the world mate great snakes to work with.
quite intelligent as well
hope all goes well at the surgeons
cheers shaun

Re: new coastal jad 1 freebody 0
Dang, sounds like you got nailed good. Morelia species hit hard and fast. I bought a little Moluccan scrub yesterday (Morelia clastolepis) and she is deep in shed. I stopped at a friend's house on the way home to wait out a traffic jam and he wanted to see the snake, so I opened the tub and BAM, she nailed me on my pinkie finger and ring finger. Didn't hurt that badly but it was interesting trying to coax her back into the deli cup while I was dripping blood all over his garage...lol. After I cleaned it up there was only 3 tiny little holes. Snakebites bleed like crazy.
Got her home and soaked her and held her a bit and she was fine. If she is not constantly murderous while in shed, I figure she should be pretty calm when she can actually see me. I can't wait to see her fresh skin colors.
