New scorpions- yellow banded flat rocks

Ok, I'm so excited. My fiance finally broke down and let me get scorpions again. I absolutely love scorpions- think they are so cool. I got a breeding pair of yellow-banded flat rock scorpions (Hadogenes paucidens), and they are settling in really well. Very pretty scorps! I have read up as much as I can on them, and care seems to be pretty similar to the emperor scorpion. But if anyone has any extra pointers, that'd be great. I have them in a 10-gallon tank with cypress mulch and moss as substrate, two cork bark hides, a wide shallow water dish, and a UTH. I mist them down every day to keep humidity up and I have a humidifier in the room. The room they're in is climate controlled to stay between 80-85F.

The female is about 5 inches long and she has an incredible tail on her. The male is much smaller, only about 3 inches.

Thats pretty amazing! I wanne get scorps too in the near future but havnt done much research yet, is it diffucult to breed them? And to keep them? How do you handle them? I love the emperors but family also bit sceptic about them, only had wc poisonous female once but she tiny species and didnt eat in captivity so had to let her go.

I honestly don't know if it's difficult to breed them. I just really like scorpions and this pair was very affordable and pretty. The man I bought them from said they were breeding once a year for him, about 5-10 babies at a time. It seems they breed better with higher temperatures, so I don't expect to see any action right now during the winter months. I'm not really concerned about breeding them; I just really like scorpions and wanted to keep them again. These guys are pretty calm and can be handled for a few minutes here and there, although I don't like to do it as it stresses them.

How do you hold them? On ure bear skin? Do you use gloves? How do you pick them up? Dont they scare you when they get "jumpy" ?

I try not to hold them really. While the calmer species of scorpions like emperors and flat-rocks CAN be handled, they really don't enjoy it. If I have to clean the cage, I put a glove on and just set my hand down in front of the animal and use my other hand to nudge it onto the gloved hand, then I pick it up and set it down in a holding container. Some people will pick them up by the tail, but I'm afraid to do that as they look so delicate and I would not want to hurt them.

Dunno, I would love to have them but the idea of them crawling on me is a bit creepy. I have to have somebody around me to show me the animal not scary, dont laugh but i bought stick insects at the expo, guy let me hold the biggest female possible no problem, i came home and now im terrified of them again. I use to have a tarantula when we lived in Ireland, same story. Atleast it doesnt happen with the reptiles

It's not crazy. I'm actually intimidated by these guys. I had no problems picking up my emperor scorp, but these guys are so much more alert and faster. I'm not afraid of them, but I'm leery of just scooping them up all the time.

Next time i go bug hunting and come across some scorps ill post u a picture, they small species around here but i think they cute in their own lil dangerous agressive way.
