Hello Shaun, I LOVE Scotlan- one of my dreams is to go there and visit the castles before I get too old. This is a great forum, you will learn a lot here. Do you have any reptiles now?

Re: hello from bonnie scotland
Hey Shaun. Whereabouts are you from? I used to live in Campsie, just north of Glasgow. Born and raised in Yorkshire though. Not quite as cold and wet, but not quite dry enough!

Welcome. I love Edinburgh, all my family lives in England and Scotland so I've been up there quite a few times. Last time I went, tattoo was being held and it was BUSY.

shaunyboy I live in Cape Town, South Africa. My name happens to be Shaun Ross MacLeod. Suppose I am a direct result of the Highland clearances.

Re: hello from bonnie scotland
hello macadder,my name is shaun riach.the riachs and the macleods fought side by side against the english at the battle of culloden.it was fought just outside inverness (famous for the loch ness monster) on open moorlands and was the last battle to be fought on british soil.sadly we lost but some of us survived my friend or you and i would not be sitting here ha ha.i think i would have prefered to have been moved out in the clearances if i could have ended upin a nice country like yours.
hello siz,i hope the weather holds out for you on your next visit.it really is a nice country when the weathers good.thats truely amazing your grandad is 100 on his birthday.wish him all the best from me.i became a grandad myself for the first time 7 months ago when my sons wife had twins.a boy and a girl.it was the first time in my life i've felt really, really old.your grandad has just cheered me up as feel i'm just a young novice grandad compaired to him.
cheers shaun

Re: hello from bonnie scotland
Hi Shaunyboy
Culloden was more of a civil conflict than against the English per say. More Scots were on the English side than English troops.
I think old Charley made a couple of real bad decisions in “planning” the battle but when he froze during the English artillery fire that was literally the end.
I think the atrocities after the battle were crimes against humanity.
I enjoy reading up on the history even though the conclusions often sadden.

i know you would think in this day and age we would learn more from history and stop it repeating itself with pointless wars and killing.i dont want to get into a history debate but culloden was a battle to put a scottish king back on the throne of scotland and give the scots thier country back from rule under the english.to this day the country of wales and scotland are ruled by an english goverment.i think maybe our snake forum folk have had enough history for now my friend.feel free to pm me if you want to talk some more on the subject as i like history as well.so what snakes do you keep and what are your favourites ?
cheers shaun
