How the hell....

So my 17month old Bearded Dragon.
Brumated for 2 months, very little movement.
Lost about 50g (10%)
So I go to the vet with her.
Did a fecal, it came clean.

She came out at about 450g
She still eats barely anything a month later.
Maybe 5 Supers, a horn or 2 plus a few bites of greens a week.
The vet told me, if her weight does not go down, then I should not worry about how much she is eating right now.
Well I am, so I weigh her once a week
She is gaining about 10-15g a week! How the hell... does she gain weight when she eats hardly anything!
I find it amazing, she is back to her 500g mark which is what she was when she went to brumate.
I am puzzzled.

Re: How the hell....

Just because she's eating less doesn't mean her body isn't using what food she gets and placing replacing the fat stores she lost. Not only that, she could just not be very active and that would contribute to her gaining and not losing weight.

Re: How the hell....

Thanks Aaron, yes she is still a little sleepy head, I have a feeling I miss calculated, and she still wants to brumate.
My vet said not to worry unless there is more weightloss.
I was not happy with not doing anything, I use MVB for UVB light, but just added a new 24"flouro tube reptisun10.0 to the top of the inside of her cage. I did this last week and have not noticed a change.
So I will continue to offer the greens everyday, but I want her to eat more greens, so I have decided to only offer supers every other day. Horns she gets once a week, when I make my trip to the food store.
Thanks

It is still incedible to gain such constant weight off so little!

Re: How the hell....

How far is the UVB bulb from the animal? Well how close can the dragon get to the light source?
