Megacolon in mice and rats......

Ive had 12 mice just die on me cause of this, and i read up on this but it doesn't say if it's contagious as the 12 i had came from different mothers and fathers, and would it be harmful after i feeze it and feed them off???

I wouldn't chance it. Just to be on the safe side.

Would you eat food that was diseased even if it wasn't transmittable?

I would not risk feeding mice or rats that died. It is just not worth the risk of losing a beloved pet.

Re: Megacolon in mice and rats......

The big rule for all feeders is "If you don't whack it, you don't pack it". Meaning that if the feeder specimen isn't being euthanized to be used as food, it is NOT food. Anything that dies on its own doesn't get "packed" in with the rest of the feeders to be used as prey, its tossed or should be. Mark
