empty cage syndrome...
Hello all,
I have a large empty cage that i just don't quite know what do with. It used to be for my chameleon, but now it just sits there taunting me.
it is 4' high x 3' wide x2' deep. Most of the walls are mesh screen for lots of ventilation.
Now my problem is that I don't really want another chameleon, im trying to avoid crickets, i can't stand them. And i'm still in trouble for getting my boa, girlfriend is terrified of snakes, so snakes are out too.
I can't think of anything that this cage would be suitable for. Any ideas that would fit my
criteria?

Isn't it obvious? Prehensile-tailed skinks (Corucia zebrata).  That's plenty big for 1.2 or so if you set it up right. Their heat and humidity requirements are a lot like chameleons. I've never read that they need the same degree of ventilation that chams do, but as long as you can keep the humidity up during shedding, I cant see extra air flow being a problem for them. Diet is pretty much entirely herbivorous, so no crickets to deal with. Plus they are just very cool animals to work with.

I would have to say that is your best bet and a realy cool pet

Perhaps i will look into some monkey-tails this summer. Never been a big skink guy, but the monkey tails would definately be my favourites.

Yeah well, at least you don't have "I had to get rid of all my reptiles" syndrome... Think about all the empty cage possibilities for that...........
