Bylaws in canada

Hello, i need a hand all, i live in a city where there was no bylaw on hand in 1985 to enforce keeping of exotic animals so our city decided that they would envoke a bylaw that states citizen may not own any exotic animals, no references as to why , no reasons , nothing just no.

I want to challenge this bylaw and have it ammended so that we can. if you could send me a link to your city bylaw that allows them i would appreciate it as it will allow me to show council members that we should adopt a law that is up to date and inling with other citys,, thanks, you could send the link to

Be very careful with this kind of stuff it is very tricky and there is allot of red tape.
First you need to get in touch with the local herp group if there is none you will have to make one. You will need reputable people backing you Vets, Zoo Curators, high scale reptile breeders. Then the reptile keeping general public.

You cannot just walk in and say don’t ban our animals you will need stats put some pressure on them post flyers in all *GUPL* Pet store that took allot to say. lol. You want people to know that there will be a law passed with out them having to vote on it.
Fire up a storm in your community.

Forget English names for animals you need to put forward a front that we are not just leather back wife beating snake keepers. Become fluent in there Latin terms.

Keep in mind that anything that is not a dog or a cat is an EXOTIC ANIMAL this includes

All rodents
All birds
All small farm animals
And all REPTILES

So you need to represent all these animals adequately.

I personally will not post the by laws of my community because not only is this a fun place to be it is a information medium. There are Fauna Authorities that scow ere these reptile sites posting information like that is juts screaming to get your animals taken from you I can put that such and such animals are restricted and someone 2 post down that comes from my part of Canada could have his whole collection in his signature and 15 of 20 of his animals are restricted.
Do you see where it can be tricky?
You posted one question and I showed you were it could lead you or some near you in an unwanted situation.

It will be like this during the whole of the preceding

I hope you can get all the information and take all appropriate action in time good luck

thats cool thats what i am looking for some insight its not enforced now i am trying to get a feel for it to see if its even worth while i have found out all that is needed to have a bylaw ammended in our town, i have spoken to our councellors and they would be interested at revamping one, but it may cause more problems they may allow some but then not others and may really come down on people who have what they cant and i wouldnt want that, just in the surveying stag

Sad as it is, almost all the 'up to date' bylaws are not at all in favour of keeping herps. It also seems that generally the ones that permit the keeping of certain reptiles are the outdated laws. That may not be the example you are looking to use in a fight.

I thought that Tecumseh didn't have the bylaws. When I lived in Windsor I had to keep my collection secretly. I don't think that many municipalities give any reasons for passing it. It is mostly based on ignorance anyway.
A Windsor city council member has been quoted as saying that unless there is a complaint there would be no problem. I guess that it boils down to if you don;t do anything stupid then don't worry keep herpin.
