I was thinking tonight if it would be possible to take a household thermostate and convert it to run off of receptacle power to do the same job as a Helix. I have no idea why I was thinking bout this, but it might be interesting if someone would know if and how this could be done. I know i'm probably crazy for thinking this, but hey, its 2:50am and i'm running on vertually no sleep here
I've actually used regular house thermostats for years in enclosures and even in a corn snake egg incubator... how good did it work? well, not that great for the most part... I was baking my ball pythons (had radiant heat panels in small 3' long enclosure)... worked ok for the corn snake egg incubator though... stick with the ones that have a probe, works a lot better.
