corn snake tank

Hey, I'm hoping to get a new corn snake I have a 25cm (length), 12cm (depth) tank.
At what size would the corn snake need to be before I bought a new tank?
And What size shoulod my next tank be?

From the sizes you gave I think you have a 5.5 gallon, and that won't work for very long. You could use that until the corn is 16"-17" at most. I would start with a ten gallon which can be used until your corn is about 28"-30". After that I would get a 32 cubed or a 40 Breeder which your corn can live in for the rest of its life. If you have any more questions about corns, feel free to ask.

Ohh, that should last for quite a while. I think you have a 15 gallon. When your corn hits about 35"-40" you would want to upgrade to a 40 Breeder.

oh so it should be ok for a while?
cause i have a bigger tank ready to but i'll get the measurments of that too.
also heating wise, i have a tropical fish tank heater would that work or is a heat pad the best form of heating?

Also how much would u say a 40 breeder would cost? a rough estimate.

A fish tank heater is NOT a good idea. The snake could burn itself. Belly heat (an undertank heater placed underneath) would work best.

I am not sure how undertank heaters work on glass, so I would also recommend a Rubbermaid instead of a tank. It's just easier...they're super cheap as well.

Hmm i see, whats a rubber maid?? lol might seem a stupid question to most but i dont have a clue. But i have a tank also at the moment so i need to find a good way of heating it.

It's a big plastic container...like tupperware.

I wouldn't keep a snake in a tank, but that's just me. I don't own any colubrids anyway, so I'll stop giving advice on them. However, a lot of snake keepers would agree that a tank is best for fish

An undertank heater is still best, but I don't know how it will affect the glass of the tank, which is why I recommended the Rubbermaid/plastic container.

ok thanks for advice!
but if i lay layers of newspapers under the undertank heater hopefuilly that will stop heat loss or better yet lay a thin ply wood on the bass of the tank. Anyone have any comments on that it would be of great help

Undertank heaters are designed for glass tanks. They don't affect the glass in any way.

Though I keep my corns in rubbermaids for the sake of convenience, I think that tanks look far nicer. Just be sure you have an escape proof screen top. If this is your only pet reptile, I would go with a tank, such that it can be a bit of a display tank, rather than a function-only enclosure... though both work well, and it all depends on what you want.
