I have read most sites and a book or two but I need some stuff that needs to be cleared up.In Inches what is the size that a adult veild chameleon needs(what do yours in? what kind or where di you get it? and did you have alink to it and a picture?)

PLease I need answers from experienced chameleon owners that havd or had chameleons in the past.I am looking to purchase a baby chameleon (WHEN ALL MY RESEARCH IS DONE AND I GET THE STUFF) but I STILL do not know what species I am leaning over towards the veild but I dunno know anymore becuase of the enclosure it needs when it is an adult.I am little bit limited on space but I do have some space in my closet in my room I can move my dresser in the corner and I have about 20 feet wideX 3 1/2 feet longX 6 feet High.Will having it in the closet cause a problem?Also I have read they NEED to be outside is this all the time or an I use a mercury vapor lamp instead?If not how could I house them outside when it rains and such.(I LIVE IN FL)I also need kind of a full supplie list of what to get I know I need foliage put I have read that you can use branches and LIVE ficus plants.And just put a list of everything you have in your chameleons cage and what you do (misting and cleaning).

I have read also about feeding that they need at least 5 diffrent kinds of insects to maintain thier diet I only have crix that I get monthly and do well here.If this is true how and where can I get these other insects (mealworms,kingworms anymore?).

I would like to bring up the species of chameleon that would be the best If the veild needs something bigger than the measurements that I have then what other chameleon ,THAT IS AVALIABLE AND REALATIVELY CHEAP (no in the hundreds),would be good?

Hmmm, if cash is a problem you might wanna rethink of keeping a chameleon.

Veilded and Panther are great for starters. Are you sure your closet is 6 feet high? lol Because 6 feet is not that tall. I dont see a problem having the cage in the closet, just as long as you take out the doors. I have a cage setup in my closet with no problems. I find that mercury bubls gets to hot for the chameleons and its better off just to use a light bulb(for inside). Its not true that chameleons need to be outside all the time, if it was people in canada wouldnt be owning chameleons, it would be a benifit for them to get some real sun.

Most insects can be found at any local pet stores. It would be best to vary there diet every so often.

for a veild 6 feet is fine... thats what mine is in... ... so thats not a prob... ventalation might be... now i dont think youll need 20 feet though... 5 by 3.5 by 6.. (lxwxh) is a very nice size enclosure.. screen is the best way to go...

a very in diet is good... i made that mistake... how would u like to eat only burgers... most pet stores will have them... you could always breed silkies... that would work...

youd really have to work out ventalation... that would be the only problem i could see...

heres a list of what youll need...

repti-glo 5.0 florecent tube and fixture ( as long as you can is best)

heat lamps... ( spot lamp should be fine, temp around 85 day time, and possibly none needed at night, night should be in the 70's but 68 can happen without harm)

GOOD QUALITY thermometer and humidity gauge ( a temp gun would be nice too, just to do spot checks of highs and lows and basking spot)

vines ( i made my own by brading grapevine that i cut off a wreath)

a few plants would be nice... ( hibicus and pothos is what i have but there not in yet and i cant keep the hibicus alive, there supposed to be harty)

and of course the cage...

this is bare minimum, some extras are nice like a helix temp controll a mister and stuff..

because you live in fl... some outdoor time is benifical, real sun and stuff....

BEWARE if your looking for something you can hold a chameleon may not be the best choice, there agressive and espically veilds...

youll also need a smaller enclosure that you can use when its small... to keep a close eye on its health...

as for fake plants. check dollar stores.... or walmart...

if you need anything else or if theres something i havent answered just ask ok...

oh and if space is an issue look for a dwarf alot smaller and only like 30 gal ( so ive heard) is needed... i like them alot and other that cresties thats my next purchase
