If fosters is crap, I'd like to try your normal beer. I don't mind fosters at all.

Do you guys have any canadian beer down under?

The reason blue would be so expensive is because it is an import and not often imported. I imagine the only people that would buy it would be expat Canucks that haven't adapted to the local beer.

VB (Vic Bitter) is a widespread, cheap beer. Not bad for the price, but there are many many other beers here!

VB was may fav. while I was there. I wasn't a huge fan of Tooheys... Regardless Australian's are a great bunch to drink with.

Australians (from what I saw and heard while I was there) live on Vegemite. They say it'll put hair on your chest and you're not a real man unless you consume large quantities of the stuff. I thought it was horrible. But as Dave said it's likely an aquired taste. I'm sure Spam isn't a huge hit down there.

Dave - those lizards sure have grown up since I was there!

Hey Dave,

Yeah, Alex is really starting to beef up, now. You wouldn't recognise him. Here's another photo (taken on the Southpark night - they did this 12 times that night) on the tile floor. The tiles are 1 foot in length.

It's a shame they're so dirty from the substrate in their enclosure. When they shed, the yellow/black contrast is vivid.

You're going to hate me for saying this, but a good friend has been seeing a lot of diamond pythons in the past while, mostly while driving home at night (he lives north of the city). The next time you come here, I've been told of a spot that's apparently guaranteed for diamond pythons year 'round (even during the dodgy time of year you choose to visit - ha, I had better stop hassling you about that!). I'll check it out myself first.

Ah yes, the "100%" spot turns up via your "friend", after I leave. Perfect timing! lol

I'm a student! That's the only time of year I can come, at this point. If it's not bad enough that your toilets flush the opposite way, your summer is at the wrong time of year. You Aussies have it all backwards!

They look like fine lizards. When I was there they still had more of the juv. colouration.

Seen any Broad-headed snakes around?

I didn't go looking for broadheads this past season, so I haven't seen any lately.

Those monitors still have close to their juvenile colouration, but they are too dirty most of the time to see it. That's why made the comment about them being dirty.

Like I always say, a dirty monitor is a happy monitor. The only time mine are even close to clean is after the climb in the new clean water to dirty it up. Yippee, clean lizard, dirty work for me.

Wow, both those pics of yours just make me want one ( or two ) lacies so bad!!! Their colors are insane!!! You're also pretty lucky to just go out and say '' hey, let's go to this nice spot with tons of diamond pythons all over ''!! If i were in Australia, i would spend my time taking looooooong walks around to look at the herps! You defenetly have one of the best countries for herping! As for me, the only snakes Australia lacks in the wild are ETBs and BCIs !!

phil.

actually, bistrobob, we lack any reptile acronyms of any sort. I presume ETBs are emerald tree boas and BCIs are Boa constrictor imperator?
