Breeding Surinam Boas

This year i will be breeding my surinam boas, but i have heard so many different cooling tempetures i am not sure what temp is suppose to be used. I do understand surinam's are fairly difficult to breed so i am looking for information from breeders with experience in breeding surinam's. All help is very much appreciated.

I have been slowly cooling them over the last month and a half and curently their daytime highs are in mid 80's and nighttime is in the low 70's. They were introduced just over a week ago and on the second day i saw the tails were alligned and the male had a death lock on the female's tail. The male was squeezing her tail and his spurs were going crazy all over her tail, they stayed locked together from morning till that night, now i have watched them do this 3 times over the last week but i couldn't see if they actually did it. What does everyone think? Also how often should food be offered to both male and female during this time.

Good luck with them, already got to step one (or two?). I cycled mine with a gradient within the 80's during the day, and dropped the temp down to 65 at night. Sometimes it is difficult to see if there is actually any penetration or not, but if they appear 'locked up', that is definitely promising. Does his tail periodically twitch while they are like that? Do you ever see any 'spillage' when they part or during? These are telltale signs that copulation has taken place. The only time I offer my Bcc food when they are breeding is when activity seems to cease, other than that I let them go at it undisturbed

Hey Linds thanks for your help, yes the male's tail does twitch when their tales are locked together (like he is squeezing her tail). I have been looking for signs of 'fluid' in the cage but haven't noticed anything. Thanks again.

Do you stop cooling and bring temps up once copulation is witnessed? Mine have been going at it for a a few weeks now off and on. I have fed them once since they started back in late September. I just want to know when do I start warming them back up? Also do you wait for obvious signs of ovulation or just guestimate the time frame?

copulation should be witnessed a few times cause the first couple of times may not be sucessfull, as for tempeture it should be raised once mid body swelling or ovulation is witnessed.
