new bci (?) from local shop
Thought this little girl (according to them) was quite the looker, so I grabbed the little worm. She was apparently a customer return as the former owner wagged her in his girlfriend's face and it bit the proffered nose (ha!)... We've got some nice gradual taming to do.
Forgive the glove, I've been bitten by my share of snakes, but boids (even babies) aren't at the top of my list of fun things to have hanging off me. I'm sure she'll get me someday, but for now she's just too snappish to bare-hand.
The flash blew out a lot of her nice pinkishness, but you get an idea.
"I'd rather be eating your face..."

Wow, very pretty. I'm thinking BCI but she doesn't appear to have very many saddles... hmm.
I wished I had worn a glove myself today when I went to move one of the kings for cleaning. Everything is food to the little *******, especially my hand for some reason. He went from being just like a corn to biting anything that moves or feels warm.
I've had no luck mellowing any of my bitey ones. Bitey or not that girl you've got there will be worth hanging on to I think. Besides, getting bitten is just part of the fun of keeping snakes. lol!

Thanks all, I've got her in a small temporary container next to me this evening so she gets used to my movement. In the shop, she was striking at the glass, but now she seems more calm.
I find some snakes get taunted a lot when in shops or even in some keepers homes... The fact that they strike seems to invite teasing to provoke a response. Well, we can fix that.
She'll go well with my Suri male. Speaking of which, does this seem like a BCI? Her saddles look almost salmon-like, somewhat blurry and light. I admit my boa-lingo isn't as polished as my tarantulaspeak... ![Wink](http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif) (mostly an invert guy here)
Thanks for the welcome!

Sweet boa. I too question her BCIness. She looks pretty BCC to me, but hey, I'm no expert. Also, just out of curiosity, is that a rhino in your avatar?

At best she has 17-19 saddles. BCI is 21 or more. To be sure wait till she sheds and count her ventral scales. She maybe a Colombian BCI x BCC crss. Or straight BCC.
Cheers,
Trevor

Hm, BCC? Which might she be, then? Peruvian - or at least partially?
Thanks for the compliments - I nabbed her for $90, which they'd discounted because she was nippy. I'll go back and ask their reptile person (it's a general pet shop) if she knows any more about its origins...
edit: yep, that's a rhino on my avatar. I don't own one, tho.

She's an absolute beauty!!! However, please don't contribute to the hybrid problem by pairing her with a Bcc. Breeding should only be attempted with *sknown* sub/species. It truly is an abomination ![Frown](http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) As well as, nice Bci are a tough find, find a deserving mate to assist in a more beutiful population! As for saddle counts, many breeders of Bci are breeding for a reduced saddle count, so that is entirely unreliable these days...

I hadn't planned on breeding this with my Suri. When I said 'go well with' I sort of meant alongside, not 'with' in the biblical sense.
