pc fans

I was reading some threads and read that some of you guys put pc fans in incubators, how do you do that? I have an extra fan from a new pc building project, do I need a ac dc converter and how should I be doing this?

If you have an extra 12volt DC adapter then just rig that upto the fans positive and negative wires properly then plug in. I have 2 fans riged up to one Adapter and they work fine, you could probbly add more if the amperage is ample.

Or if you can get your hands on those older AT power supplies which do not need to be plugged into a motherboard to function, those work well too.

If you try Radio Shack they sell cheap A/C fans. You can choose the CFM.

Why would you use an entire PSU for powering one fan? PSU's use anywhere from 250-600 WATTS of power ever hour it seems like a waste of power to me :-/ . If you already have a DC fan salvage a 12volt AC adapter from something and use that. Otherwise I would suggest going with an AC fan as they require no salvaging or extra work.

BTW edwin, any psu can be made to function without an mother board. You just have to know what your doing.
