Pet Sitting....
I am curious what everyone does with their pets when they go on vacation. Or if the go at all!....There's so many animals I would like to keep but have to refrain because I like to travel. O.K....the snakes are fine, I can get someone to come over and check up on them. Pretty basic, I can split for a week and feed them when I get back. But I'd love to keep an Argentina Horned Frog, milli's, scorpions, tarantulas, geckos, chams, iguana and have to refrain because I don't know anyone who'd come over and be able to deal with all their different needs. Hmmm...maybe if I payed them a hefty wage! Anyways, this is just for fun...What do you all do?

We only get away for one weekend a year. The same person usually looks after the collection, but he's not a keeper himself. We wind up power feeding for the week leading up to it, then all our sitter has to worry about is water.
I've tried to set up a herp sitting co-op within our local reptile society, but response has been pathetic. My original concept was to recruit some volunteers to herp sit and then as other keepers requested the service, they volunteer themselves to return the favor at a later date. It seems eveyone wants to take advantage, but no one wants to step up.

My sister does it
When I have to go away for more than a day I have my sister come over to take care of the herps. She comes over the night before and goes through the whole routine with me and I write up detailed sheets about each tank (what, when, and how much to feed, heat ranges, humidity ranges, what to do to lower or heighten heat and humidity, etc.). She usually doesn't have any problems but if she does she can always call me. I don't have a large collection yet but I'm getting snakes in a few weeks and she doesn't relish the idea of feeding mice so I may have to find someone else for that. I pay her 10$ per day and she seems pretty happy with that.
