breeders?
Does any one know of any good jackson or veiled cham breeder in the calgary area? also does anybody have a good care sheet for either.

well good lick buddy. I tried searching for a breeder of jacksons in canada for a year without any luck. I really dont think there are any in canada. If there are they sure arent very open about it. Anouther reason why we need breeders licenced so that everyone knows who they are and where they are.

Jacksons in Canada ... sure there are, you just don't know where to look. If you are really interested, go to the reptile shows in the gta. I beleive for the last few shows, Jacksons were available for $250 each (I think).

$250? geez, i got offered a pair for 75. but that was after i had already gotten mine, so i had to turn it down. i got mine for $60, but then again, i live in the US

There should be some jacksons breeders somewhere in Canada. I know I produced over 100 babies and sold them all. Some should still be around (or their own kids). My adults died a couple of years ago (6+ years old) so I don't have any, but there's got to be some babies around.

Yes but some of us dont have the opportunity to visit reptile shows. And if you shipped out 100 and say there must be some breeders. I surely hope that you sold them as pairs being of different bloodlines. Otherwise we have a bunch of inbred jacksons in canada. And that is not good at all.

The Canadian jacksonii more than likely came from the populations in Hawaii. These populations originated from a very small founder stock and have been heavily inbred over the years due to this genetic bottleneck. As far as anyone can tell, however, these are very healthy populations still. While further inbreeding should be avoided, the effects are debated. I imagine that his babies are not the only lines in Canada though.

Actual i find that more and more jacksons are comming to canada, but most are WC, they are not hard to find, well in my area anyway. I saw a captive bred jackson that was about a month or less old going for 150, thats a good price considering its a CB i didnt have the cash but if i would it would be in my hands by now. Its now probly gone.

I saw veileds at petsmart but they are $100 and only 3 weeks old so I would rather spend the same money to get it shipped to me from a reputible breeder than to just get it as an impulse buy. BTW I have decided to get a veiled instead of a jackson they seem to be a better starter and are much cheaper. Does anyone know of a good care sheet for them and I a an hibiscus? plant and was wondering if that would be ok for a cham?
